1. A girl´s birth is not celebrated. She is not welcomed . The neighbours commiserate with the mother and nobody congratulates the father. (Mothers feel uncomfortable , sad – then shocked – finally guilty ) 2. Girls are forbidden to go out alone, without a man escort. They are confined at home. They are no more free individuals. 3. Men : code of honour women : obedience 4. Humiliated 5. Quiet – humble – submissive 6. Mothers teach the same lesson of obedience to their daughters and the same lesson of honour to their sons. 7.
