Pat Blair, The White House Calligrapher, conducted a wonderful workshop on Spencerian Script in Birmingham on September 15th and 16th. The twenty lucky participants received folders with their name written in Spencerian script and flourished 20 different ways! We concentrated on “whole body movement” with the oblique pen and flourishing our work. On Saturday night, many pulled themselves away from Upcoming Birthdays the AL/Arkansas game to view a slide show of Pat’s work at the White House and learn secrets of the trade. I sincerely want to thank you for allowing me the opportunity to attend Pat Blair’s workshop. It was fabulous! She is one of the teachers who I have most wanted to learn from firsthand. I feel very blessed, not only by being there to hear and see her, but to be around all of you in the Bham guild as well. You are a terrific, friendly, and well-organized group! It is always fun being among like-minded letter lovers! I’m already looking forward to my next workshop there. Thank you again for everything! Sincerely, Donna Hacker Kentucky
