The award-winning, all-Indigenous burlesque collective, Virago Nation, is set to captivate with its empowering message of body positivity and sexual sovereignty. Witness dazzling performances infused with artistry, culture, humour, politics, sass, and of course, glitter!

Founded in May 2016, Virago Nation is on a mission to reclaim Indigenous sexuality from the toxic effects of colonization. Their message is consistent, loud & clear—colonial and patriarchal ideologies have no place here! Using storytelling and striptease, the artists of Virago Nation show that Indigenous sexuality is multi-faceted, dynamic, powerful and an experience that is deeply personal.

Virago Nation has headlined festivals across Turtle Island; including the Vancouver Talking Stick Festival, Queer Arts Festival, Tipi Confessions, Asinabka Film & Media Arts Festival, Gwaandak Theatre Awaken Festival, and both Toronto & Vancouver Pride Festivals. They have been recognized by 21st Century Burlesque as one of the Top 100 Burlesque Industry figures in 2017 & 2018 and voted #3 Best Burlesque Show in the Georgia Straight for 2023.

SCARLET DELIRIUM is the Raven Goddess and official Panty Auntie of Burlesque — a Being so molten, she’ll have you seeing red and losing your head. While this Kwakwaka’wakaw Indigi-Babe originally hails from the land of the HeadHunters, her signature saunter and slow burn style has taken her to stages and festivals across North America since 2010. Not just a solo supernova, Scarlet plays well with others — she’s a sought after duo partner and a founding member of Virago Nation — Turtle Island’s first all Indigenous Burlesque Collective.

As a costumer, Scarlet is “Sew Talented” and her “Jaw-Dropper” reveals may leave you feeling a little… unraveled, but don’t gather yourselves — her smoldering stage presence will show you the beauty of coming undone.

MANDA STROYER is a Sioux-per nova Indigibabe artist from Vancouver. They’ve been bringing their sunshine sweet energy to burlesque stages since 2011. They’ve performed all over the city but now primarily perform with Turtle Island’s first all Indigenous troupe Virago Nation. In addition to burlesque, Manda is also a part-time mermaid, part-time nurse and full time momma of 2 who believes fiercely in breaking toxic stereotypes surrounding sexuality for future generations.

SPARKLE PLENTY has entered her unhinged era and it shows. Sparkle has been around the burlesque scene for way too long and is uninterested in accolades and validation through mainstream means - She doesn’t need a crown to know that she’s a queen. See what's happening at Evergreen!
