It all starts with the seed. It is very important to start with high quality seed with a high germination rate. All suppliers must be approved through our comprehensive supplier approval process to ensure all incoming seeds meet our quality standards.
FRESH Water
Seeds are exposed to clean, fresh water to start the germination process. The seed comes to life, kick-starting the series of biochemical reactions necessary for germination.
SPROUT time
We allow seeds to sprout for 24 to 48 hours during which time a whole host of biochemical reactions take place within the seeds fundamentally changing their nutrient profile.

The germinating seeds are kept aerobic as they sprout so they have access to oxygen which is necessary for cellular metabolism. Temperature is monitored to ensure it is warm enough to foster growth.

Before the growing seed uses up too many nutrients, we carefully dry the seeds to lock in these nutrients, which are now more bioavailable for our bodies when we consume them. After the seeds are dry, they are shelf stable for 1-2 years.

WE ARE YOUR TRUSTED SUPPLIER We have developed a comprehensive food safety plan based on sound science, regulatory requirements, industry best practices and our own experience working with our unique products. All aspects of production are completed on-site in one of our 2 sprouting facilities where we sprout, dry, blend, mill and package in closely monitored batches. All seed lots are tested at an accredited 3rd party lab to ensure the finished product meets our microbiological specifications. We operate a 75,000 sq ft facility as a dedicated gluten free, dairy free and nut free facility as well as a seperate facility for sprouting wheat and other gluten containing grains. We regularly review our procedures and food safety performance for ways in which we can improve. Using quality ingredients, specially designed equipment and extensive product testing we are confident that our products are safe for all of our customers to enjoy!

WHY S PROUTED? TRADITION:
Before the advent of modern
agriculture, crops were often exposed to the elements and sprouted naturally in the fields before being harvested. Only recently have we completely eliminated sprouted grains from our diets as agriculture has become more mechanized. Many ancient cultures incorporated soaked and sprouted grains and seeds into their regular diets for the improved taste and nutritional benefits
NUTRITION:
Sprouted grains and seeds
are widely considered to be more bioavailable than unsprouted grains and seeds. All seeds contain nutrient inhibitors that bind to nutrients in the seed to prevent them from being released before growing conditions are optimal. When a seed germinates, a whole host of biochemical reactions take place to prepare the seed to grow into a plant. Enzymes created during germination unlock these nutrient inhibitors in the seed converting them into a form that can be used by the seed to foster growth. This process also makes these nutrients more digestible and bioavailable for our bodies.

Sprouting can improve the taste and
flavour profile of grains and seeds. Germination
creates enzymes that convert complex starch into simple sugars making sprouted grains taste sweeter than unsprouted grains. The texture of grains and seeds can also be altered with germination. Grains and seeds such as buckwheat, millet and sunflower seeds become wonderfully light and crunchy with germination while sprouted brown rice and oats have a lovely soft and delicate texture when cooked.
FUNCTIONALITY:
Germination sets off a
series of chain reactions that alter the functionality of the seed. The changes that take place depend on the nature of the seed. Sprouted cereal flours such as sprouted wheat flour have improved loaf volume and enzymes created during germination can help slow down the staling process. The shelf life of sprouted oilseeds such as flax and chia are significantly improved with germination likely due to antioxidant activity and soluble fibre released during germination. Germination also reduces the cook time by half in grains and legumes such as brown rice, lentils and chickpeas.

SPROUTED RICE, CORN, SORGHUM & MILLET Considered staples across the globe, corn, rice, sorghum and millet have long been an integral part of cuisine in the Americas, Asia and Africa. Due to their versatility, these grains are used in a wide variety of product applications both as whole seeds and as flours. Sprouted corn is most often used as a coarse or fine flour. Sprouted brown rice is a well known product for both its nutritional profile and fast cooking time compared to regular rice. We usually sprout medium and long grain rice varieties as whole seeds or for flour. Millet is becoming an increasingly popular ancient grain.
