I did the BA (hons) acting degree. It’s a three year course that covers a plethora of skills in voice, movement and actor methodologies. The course at the University of Northampton trains actors the same way that drama schools train actors with an average of thirty contact hours a week. All the teachers have had or are in the acting and performing industry and many of them also work in drama schools. The first two years of the course you learn all the tools you need as an actor and the third year you put all those skills into practise along with preparing for the industry. One of the things that makes this course so special is that it has Estill Accreditation. This is a huge deal as there are only eight institutions in the entire world that has been given this acknowledgement. It teaches the mechanics of the voice and how to use your voice effectively along with maintaining good vocal health. I have learnt so much by training at the University of Northampton not only about my craft but also about myself.
