IN THIS MONTH...
This month we will have a lot of fun and a lot of sun! The parks and open spaces will be our new home (if it’s not raining of course). I have wrote in this newsletter some interesting events that we can enjoy as Ludus Festival or why not the Leeds International Concerts Season. Everybody know that we are in england and it’s not sunny everyday, so I have prepared also some other activies such as the Headingley Music Festival and the Reetsweet Fair of arts and crafs. Appart from that in this newsletter, I propose you a “sunny weekend in Brighton” to have fun and a lot of cultural activities!

DISCOVERING UK Sunny weekend in Brighton The sun in this country is quite shy, but if you are lucky and you have one weekend of good weather...why not go to the beach? I’ve been one weekend in Brighton and I encourage you to go because you have really nice things to see and do.
If you’re looking for great shopping, I recommend you North Laine, a small bohemian area. Shopping there, is a real mix of ethnic, exotic and funky. You never know what can you see there, but I’m sure it will surprise you greatly.
You can go there by bus with Megabus to London and after another bus or train to Brighton, or by train to London King Cross and afterwards another train from St.Pancras International (2min walking from KX) to Brighton. I recommend the train just because if not you will arrive really tired and if you book in advance is not so expensive (£24 with railcard). Brighton is one of the most cultural cities in Europe. You can notice how the city’s atmosphere surrounds you in its streets and its people. Brighton entertainment offers a lot of Festivals, galleries, museums, film, nightlife, comedy and theatre.
Another option in the city and the most common is (of course) go to the beach and the pier. SUNNY DAYS Ludus Festival Leeds Ludus Festival Leeds is a new venture in contemporary performing arts that celebrates Leeds as an international centre of excellence in theatre and performance. In this festival some of the events are free, and in others you have to pay, but these are not so expensive. Anyway I have selected for you just the free ones.

“Living Room” is a variety of performance interventions involving dance, visual arts, film and music. It’s on the 26th of June in Riley Smith Hall (Leeds University Union) at 18.30 and 20.00. It´s free but book online

Leeds international concert season Do you know what can you do on a Sunday? I’ve got an idea! If you combine park and music, it cannot fail ever! Moreover... it´s free! So here you have some options!

ARTS WEEK IN THORNER

From the 23th to 27th of April it was the “Art Week” in Thorner School. The students work hardly every day during the school year so Mss Byrne decided to organise one week in which the activities for the kids were only crafts.

Besides, the children could play with whatever they wanted and we could find some of them dressing up or playing with barbies. The last day we made pottery to make symbols about all the seasons: butterflies and flowers for the spring, icecreams and suns for the summer, hedgehogs and rabbits for autumn, and snowmen for winter. The fourth day we worked the WINTER starting the day reading the book “Laura´s Christmas star“. The activities for the day were drama, making snowmen with soap, some writing and painting some tiles with winter symbols.
It was a great week for children and teachers, although I have to say teachers finished more tired than normally. For me it was a lovely experience because I could enjoy with every child, sometimes helping them and sometimes just playing with them.

English people are very helpful and friendly most of the times. Where do you plan to travel during your EVS? Hopefully I am going to do a workshop in Turkey with Laura. What were your expectations for this experience? Have a beautiful experience, meet new people, improve my english and learn a lot of educational skills. What is your biggest achievement in EVS? Deal with english young people.
What will you do when you finish What did you do before coming in your project? And in 10 years England? I was studing and working time? as a teacher and waiter. I will find a job as a teacher and continue studing english and being involve in youth projects.
