WHAT TO DO ON A SUNNY DAY
Ice Cube in Millennium Square (15th January until 6th March) This temporary ice skating rink is a fun (but expensive) way to spend the afternoon. Even if you have never done it before, you can go and enjoy one hour skating in the UK’s largest temporary ice skating rink. It’s also important doing this activity on a sunny day because it’s outdoor and during periods of snowfall or high winds it will be temporary closed. If you don’t want to expend your money you can go there anyway, enjoy the atmosphere and visit the free “Edge of the Circle”, a photographic exhibition about extreme winter scenes by the award‐winning photographer Andy Rouse around the rink perimeter, and also visit the gallery shop and cafe. Anyway, as it is quite expensive, if you want to skate you should go to the skating rink in Bradford. This one is cheaper and you can choose if you want to skate indoor or outdoor, you have both of them in Bradford! If you want more information about that, just let me know and I will send it to you. Cost: £9 (Students card £7.50)
Where: Millennium Square, Leeds
When: 15th January until 6th March Mon‐Thurs 12:00‐13:30 & 15:30‐21:30, Friday 12:00‐21:30, Sat. 10:00‐21:30, Sun. 10:00‐19:30 More info: www.leeds.gov.uk/icecube
Temple Newsam Park The Temple Newsam estate is just 4 miles from Leeds city centre, and here you can enjoy the parks and gardens for free, but there are also two attractions where you have to pay: the house and the farm. The Temple Newsam House is a Tudor‐jacobean house and inside you can see 30 interior rooms displaying great paintings and furniture (textiles, silver, porcelain...). The farm is bigger than it seems and there you can discover how a real farm is organized. The oldest building is the Great Barn (built in 1694) and you can see these animals: sheep, cattle, poultry, goats and pigs. If you have never been in a farm you may find it interesting, but if you know how it works you won’t discover anything new. I encourage you to go to this park and enjoy the gardens (there is an interesting green house with colourful flowers), practice sport (football, frisbee, running...) or just walking around the lakes and beautiful trees. Cost: Free (gardens and parks), £3.70 House, £3.30 Farm, £6 House+Farm When: Open Tuesday to Sunday 10:00 – 16:00 (Closed Mondays) Where: Temple Newsam Park (LS15 0AE) Bus 19 from Cardigan Road with Mayville Avenue
