About me
Hi I’m Amy from Wakefield, I LOVE animals especially dogs this is Marley, I used to volunteer for National Citizen Service in the UK.
The project
IN ARUBA
We worked at Phillips Animal Garden. With this we fed, watered and cleaned most of the animals and in return we got to handle some of the animals.
My job included feeding 134 donkeys and raking up their poo. This was a big job. My favourite donkeys were Thistle and Santa.
My motivation to come on this project was to come and help the Donkeys, I want to be a dog handler for the police or Army and this experience will help.
Free Time
Accommodation
Unlimited food, burgers and chips, banana boat riding and snorkelling WOW.
What did I learn professionally? Although the work seemed quite easy actually I realise it is hard to look after so many donkeys, I learnt about sea turtles and heartworm during my vet placement.
It was great we had free WIFI so we could contact home, great that we had a pool and there were loads of lizards in our back garden.
What did I learn personally?
I have learnt to live independently, not rely on my phone as often and to enjoy myself!
