CLARE About me
Hi I’m Clare I am 18 from York, I have loved animals from a young age and always been around dogs. I love being outdoors and love sport.
IN ARUBA Motivation motivation
The project The work at the Aruban Donkey Sanctuary includes animal husbandry and allows us to work alongside Aruban volunteers and meet new people.
When I heard about the Leonardo opportunities I wanted to help animals , I would like to be an ecologist, and this is a step in that direction.
The project
As part of the project we assisted vets at a local veterinary practice, which I loved as we were able to get involved with helping with the animals.
Free Time
We did many things in our free time; the one I enjoyed the most was Snuba Diving, this was an incredible experience and I wish to do Scuba Diving next.
What did I learn professionally?
We visited the national park and discovered the ecology of Aruba, there are many different native species on the island that I found very interesting to see and learn about.
Accommodation
The apartment was better than I expected, very spacious and I shared with the group. We shared the cooking and cleaning up afterwards.
What did I learn personally?
The experience of being independent was good for me. It has given me more motivation and self-confidence to do more volunteering in the future.
