About me
Hi, my name is Felicia, I am 34 years old, from Bradford and currently working as a freelance visual artist.
The project
We took care of the day to day running of the sanctuary, feeding, cleaning, attending to wounds When Everything Is Possible offered me to support some Leonardo trainees in Aruba, I was so excited as my father was raised in Aruba. This was a great opportunity to explore some of my roots and love of animals.
Free Time We had a car on the island, which mad exploring much easier.
Beautiful beaches, snorkelling, trying all the local delicacies, getting lost and meeting friendly locals, festivals and Latin dancing.
Three days a week trainees were involved in the refurbishment of the new sanctuary and looking after the donkey here. This was much more physical work, but very rewarding.
Accommodation
and medical needs also welcoming and serving tourists and leading tours.
A home away from home, beautiful furnished with everything we could need including wifi and washing machine.
Our apartment was on the land of the president of the sanctuary.
What did I learn professionally?
What did I learn personally?
I learnt a lot about the history of the donkeys and how to give guided tours to large groups of tourists who spoke a number of languages.
I deeply submerged myself into the local history, culture and island living, met wonderful people and lifelong memories.
