ROSS About me
Hello my name is Ross, I live in near York in a village called SheriffHutton. I enjoy working with timber and occasionally work for a local builder when he needs me.
IN SWEDEN The project
Motivation motivation
I was interested by this project because I enjoy working as a joiner and hoped to use this trip as a learning curve. I wanted to see how other parts of the world do joinery.
The project
In the second week I helped the team make benches and a floating pontoon.
Free Time
The project involved making hunting knives and trinkets for the first week.
Accommodation
In my free time I went clay pigeon shooting which was very fun!! We also went go karting and fishing. We caught several fish, like pike and perch.
What did I learn professionally?
I learnt the skills needed to create small delicate precision joinery, ie knife making. I also got to use large machinery to cut the joints for the benches.
The accommodation was fantastic. The only flaw with the accommodation was the TV’s were in German and Swedish! At tea time we all sat down together to eat.
What did I learn personally?
Even not knowing the language everybody was still very friendly. I enjoy working in a different country, and I hope to re-visit Sweden in a different season.
