ABOUT ME

My name is Dominic. I’m 31. Originally from Poland, I live in England for 7 years. I’ve started a course as a bench joiner and now doing apprenticeship in site carpentry. With this project I wanted to gain some inspiration from working in a different country.

FREE TIME

In my free time, I have had a chance to try riding snow mobiles, go for hockey match and spend some quality time with my colleagues in the woods.

WHAT DID I LEARN PROFESSIONALLY? During my project, I’ve learned how to make traditional Sami knifes, outdoor benches and wooden bridges. That gave me some inspiration for the future.

THE PROJECT

During my project, I was making wooden benches, bridges and I’ve learned how to make a hunting knife. I really enjoyed all tasks I’ve been given to do.

ACCOMMODATION

We lived in the hostel in the centre of Arvidsjaur, 30 minute walk from our work place. It was a big house, where we could have a fire in a back garden very close to lakes and forest.

WHAT DID I LEARN PERSONALLY? Personally, I’ve learned a lot about Sweden and Sami culture. I also have learned how to live in a group.
