Since 1970 France Latin America (FAL), an association governed by the law of 1901, consisting of members who come together in local committees or thematic commissions. Every year, the General Assembly shall determine the guidelines of the Association and elect the members of the Executive, the National Office and the Steering Committee. France Latin America has the approval of "Youth and Popular Education." ALF is a member of CNAJEP (National Committee for Relations and International Associations of Youth and Popular Education), ATTAC, the CSIR, the CAL (Collective for Latin America and the Caribbean), the ACME ( Association for World Water Contract) and the Collectif Haiti de France. Of remarkable achievements in the fight against impunity in the Southern Cone, were recorded, but remain deeply and broadly. The large popular mobilizations managed to contain the proposed Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA) and arise everywhere glimmers announcing alternative experiences necessary to end the prostration and despair. FAL battle all human rights abuses, political, labor, economic and cultural, whenever and wherever they are violated in Latin America. We condemn interference and external pressures, such as Plan Colombia, the Andean Regional Initiative, Plan Puebla Panama. We reject the economic pressures and plans of social breakdown organized by the IMF. The debt burden is the disastrous result and people shall be released. We defend minorities, including indigenous peoples, like the Mapuche in Chile and Argentina, the Mayans in Chiapas Mexico and Guatemala, the Yanomami in the Amazon ... We defend workers' rights, and we reject the system as it exists Maquiladoras in Mexico or Central America. We defend the right of access to land, we support the peasant movements such as the Landless Movement (MST) of Brazil. We defend the specific rights of women and children. FAL also defends the rights of Latin American nationals on French territory. We act as appeals, petitions, demonstrations, direct actions at embassies and governments. ALF regularly organizes conferences and debates, seminars, meetings with Latin American activists, thematic exhibitions, film screenings.
