Recycling & Festivals: 2 week volunteering in the UK
Give up your free time for a worthwhile cause and have free access to 2 major British Festivals. Every year the Leeds Festival and Tribfest attract thousands of music lovers. Keeping the site environmentally friendly is a huge challenge that the Green Messengers try to manage. You will work as part of the Green Messenger team. This volunteering experience will give you the chance to have access to these festivals for free. So if you love music and don’t mind getting your hands dirty, this project is for you!
What will I do?
As a Green Messenger you will work to promote recycling, collect cans & plastic bottles and salvage good quality, re-usable camping equipment that has been left in the campsites which will be shared amongst to charity and community organisations.
How long is the project?
This is a 16 day project of which you will work at least 10 days at the festivals. You will also have some free time when you can explore the local cities as well as enjoy the entertainment at the event.
And what about the Festival?
Being a part of festivals is an amazing experience. Leeds festival is one of the major annual events in the UK attracting around 80,000 people every year. Tribfest is a smaller more exclusive event with around 3,000 attendees. You will have the chance to watch for free some international bands such as Blink 182, Arctic Monkeys, Vampire Weekend and many others. There are lots of entertainments on offer!
How much will it cost?
This experience is funded by the European Commission and the British Council. We will arrange and pay 90% of your travel (you will have to pay 10%). The food will be provided and you will have some pocket money. We will also provide you with a tent.
