Begin your career with us… NQT Professional Development

The Evolve Trust offers a bespoke training and development programme available to newly qualified teachers who have attained qualified teacher status (QTS). This professional learning and development is accessed in addition to an ongoing school-based induction and is underpinned by the very latest educational research and practice. The NQT programme builds upon the initial teacher training programme, offering a rigorous and inclusive sequence of group training sessions such as:  Planning for success, effectively structuring a lesson  Building character and trust  High expectations for behavior  Effective questioning and use of discussion for learning As well as targeted teaching support, it provides an opportunity for new teachers to network, providing a valuable means of peer-to-peer support. The programme is delivered by a range of professionals from across the Trust.

“The most significant session for me was the ‘use of discussion for learning’. Our school currently has a focus on dialogic classroom. We are being encouraged to use this throughout the curriculum as a way of increasing children’s speaking and listening, as well as further engaging them in their learning – so this session helped me significantly”.

“I am now more aware of my presence and how to use my voice, expressions and body to impact learning. Initially this used to reduce the low level disruptive behaviour. I found that planning and pre-empting how students would respond to certain tasks led me to approach my teaching differently. This led me to plan in more peer to peer discussion time which in turn led to me guiding classroom discussions to be more collaborative, building form each other’s learning”.

Making a difference every day‌ Building on the success of the Newly Development Qualified Teacher (NQT) pathway, this RQT Professional programme will focus on the personal and professional development of colleagues who have recently and successfully completed their NQT induction. The programme will consist of regular training sessions (twilights and half days) informed by the participants’ needs. This professional learning and development programme will take place over a number of days across the academic year, and will cover vast aspects of teaching and learning. Delegates will be required to keep a reflective log designed to enhance your practice throughout the programme, gathering case studies and to share their journey during the final graduation twilight. To ensure this programme challenges thinking and promotes self-evaluation, all participants will be given a mentor/coach. The Four Strategic Priorities

Research Fellowship Programme

The Four Strategic Priorities The Mastery Teacher forms part of the Research Fellowship Programme, which upon completion gives masters credits. Participants on the fellowship will complete the following: • Evidence Based Action Research (Approximate guidance) • Summary of findings (Abstract) (250 words) • Contextual information about your area of research in relation to your subject area what you will be covering (150 words) • The aims (100 words) • Data analysis including pre/during and post action research (3 pages) • Conclusion (250 words) • Next steps (100 words) In order to complete the accredited pathway, participants will also complete what is listed below and this will be assessed by examiners at Nottingham Trent University (NTU). Successful staff will need to submit a report in consultation with NTU. Key features include: • ‘Professional Development: Impact and Dissemination’ module and have access to NTU online/physical library. • The total word count for the 30 Credits is 5,000 words. This is broken down into the following components: o A short researched paper on the context of the proposed area of Action Research. o A dissemination tool to share your new knowledge, e.g. a short briefing paper for governors or a power point for colleagues. o Analysis of the impact of the Action on your professional practice o Reflection of the Action Research on your professional learning. Staff will receive an allocated fund to spend on any resource they feel is appropriate to support the project.

As part of the Team Leader Apprenticeship, learners will have access to a 360 review tool, an MBTI analysis tool and survey tools through the Leadership Matters resource library. This means they can review their own and their team’s professional progress and through better self-awareness are able to support their colleagues in a more effective way. Lead meets – facilitated by the Director of School Improvement. The purpose of these programmes is to develop, nurture and sustain leadership potential across The Evolve Trust.

Senior Leadership Programme Primary Education

This pathway is aimed at senior leaders or those wishing to make the step in the next 12 months. It is facilitated by the National College of Education and is a 26 month combined Master’s and Apprenticeship programme in education Overview Designed specifically for leaders in a school or multi-academy trust, successful learners are awarded a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, a Level 7 Senior Leaders Masters Degree Apprenticeship and eligibility to apply for Fellowship of the Chartered Management Institute. Bringing together leadership expertise from the private, public and third sectors the programme is immersed in educational context while also developing leadership theory and practice that is transferable across sectors. Unique Features of our Senior Leadership Programme 360 Review For 3 months of the Senior Leadership Programme, learners will complete a 360 review of an area of school improvement within the school or trust. This review will use management techniques learned during the programme and will require engagement with all stakeholders in the school including governors and parents. The review can form the basis of the work-based change management project. Work-based change management project In the last 6 months of the on-programme period, the learner will undertake a work-based project, which will bring together elements of their learning from different parts of the programme and show their accumulated knowledge and understanding of management and its application in their organisation. Growth Coaching International (GCI) coaching training The Senior Leadership Programme includes a comprehensive module of leadership coaching for schools which is woven into all programme elements and helps learners to build constructive conversations and relationships, supporting their 360 reviews and change management projects.

Today’s Leaders, Tomorrow’s Heads

Primary Education Secondary Educatio

Blending transformational training with learning directly from the CEO and Director of School Improvement, this programme will equip you with the skills, knowledge and behaviours to be an effective headteacher in schools facing challenging contexts.

Bespoke, evidence-based, face-to-face training focused on the headteacher standards going beyond the curriculum for the National Professional Qualification for Headship and unpicking what it really means to be an Evolve Headteacher. This is an intensive leadership programme based on the latest research and provides the opportunity to put theory into practice through challenging and thought provoking practical assignments. While it is concerned with the future of leadership across the trust the programme is also designed to enhance participants’ current practice and make a direct impact on their school and, in particular, develop confidence in leading teaching and learning, effective system leadership, committed to collaborative working and improvement. A central theme of the programme is to enhance current leadership practice and increase participants’ engagement through taking responsibility for, and managing, their own development and, possibly, further qualifications. While the focus is on personal development a key principle of the programme is to see leadership as collective capacity rather than personal status and to emphasise the importance of collaborative working in the school and across the system. Future Heads are in every respect also system leaders.

Headship Institute

The Headship Institute is a development programme created by ClaireMarie Cuthbert (CEO) for serving Head Teachers in the Trust. The Head Teachers meet on a fortnightly basis at the Trust’s Head office and actively engage with the latest research, exploring approaches to school improvement as well as the design and implementation of development strategies. Headteachers will explore the behaviours associated with great leadership and examine how this can lead improvement across a school. There is also an opportunity to gain NPQEL accreditation. This unique and innovative pathway incorporates an annual study tour, executive coaching from the CEO as well as the opportunity to shape strategic direction of the Trust. Participants will be expected to attend every fortnight throughout the academic year and engage with the chosen core text. Sessions will involve professional reading in advance or as follow up and practice. Participants will also have the opportunity to collaboratively review and develop strategic thinking. Each session takes the format of a facilitated open-ended workshop working under Chatham House rules.
