CZESŁAW MIŁOSZ 1911-2004
• Czesław Miłosz was born in Szetejnie on the SZETEJNIE 30th June 1911r. • He spent his childhood in his garandma’s country estate.
Šeteniai is a village in Kėdainiai district municipality, Lithuania. It is situated 13 km north of Kėdainiai, on the left bank of the Nevėžis River.
He died on September 14th 2004 in Cracow. He was laid to rest in „Krypta zasłużonych na Skałce”, where a lot of famous Polish poets and artists are burried.

Up until 1980 all of Miłosz’s works were censored and couldn’t be published because of Comunism time in Poland.

INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT CZESŁAW MIŁOSZ • He didn’t finish school in a typical modern educational system, during his days attending school wasn’t obligatory. • He was educated and brought up by his father and first went to secondary school.
• Apart from recieving the highest prize in the literary world: The Nobel Prize in 1980, he accumulated numerous other literary accolades, Chief among them being the Polish Nike award.
He worked on translating the biblical Book of Psalms.
MIŁOSZ’S YEAR As a homage to Miłosz and to celebrate his 100th birthday, the Polish Goverment proclaimed year 2011: Miłosz’s Year. All throughout the year different forms of celebrations were organised: new publications of his works, literary conferences, discussion panels and exhibitions, held both in Poland and abroad– from Krasnojarsk to Vilnius, Krasnogrud, Cracow, Paris, New York and San Francisco.
