MANIFESTO
My chosen format for my booklet is a music festival advertisement pamphlet. This is to reflect the impact Pavlov Visuals has had in designing for various artists (some of whom are featured in the imaginary lineup). I aimed to mimic his practice of vector based illustrations that use clean and consistent tone which features heavily symmetrical, repetitive and geometric icons. I chose my colour palette by comparing his various works and compiling his most commonly used colours in order to create a similar vibe.
The festival is named Perception as a reference to the original purpose of Pavlov Visuals which was to create a logo for their band. They found that making music was ‘not all that different from creating icons, logos, packaging designs, and visual identities’ (Pavlov Visuals, 2022). From reading their about section, what stuck with me was the phrase ‘music to the ears eyes’ (Pavlov Visuals, 2022) and I believe the word ‘perception’ encapsulates this well.
As their designs are often used for merch, I created a stickers page to mimic this in a realistic way and add to the immersive experience of the booklet. As words are kept to a minimum in their works, I ensured to only use words to communicate the necessary and allow the booklet to present more like an artwork. I also added a QR code section in order to add a more legitimate feel to the festival. This links to a simple ADOBE XD computer webpage I made.
