Angel Mounds State Historic Site Culbertson Mansion State Historic Site

MOUND QUEST Grades 2-5 August 2021-May 2022 Mondays at 9 a.m. (CST) & Tuesdays at 2 p.m. (CST)

Join an Angel Mounds staff member for a brief overview of the Mississippian culture and the archaeology conducted on the site. Students will have an opportunity to ask staff questions via chat during the presentation.

Meet the women of the Culbertson Mansion. What was life like for the women who lived at the home during the Victorian era? Learn about women’s work, education, dress, customs and pastimes from Mrs. Culbertson and her daughters, and the servant staff.

Corydon Capitol State Historic Site

VIRTUAL FIELD TRIP Grade 4 2021 dates: Sept. 7, Oct. 5, Nov. 2 2022 dates: Jan. 4, Feb. 1, March 1, May 3 1 p.m. Pre-registration is required at least one week in advance.

During this experience, students will learn about Corydon’s role as Indiana’s first state capital from 1816-1825, including the first State Capitol Building and the Governor’s Headquarters.

Vincennes State Historic Site

UNDERSTANDING THE PURPOSE OF CANALS Grades 3-12 2021 dates: Nov. 9, Dec. 14 2022 dates: Jan. 11, Feb. 8, March 8 10:30-11 a.m. Pre-registration is required at least one week in advance.

The use of canals in the early 19th century was important to the growth of the United States. Built between 1836 and 1847, the Whitewater Canal was meant to bring Indiana’s goods and produce to a wider audience. Students will learn how the canal was engineered using locks and an aqueduct bridge to cross the hilly terrain of southeastern Indiana.
