University College interacts with almost all students on campus – either through the General Education program that it administers or the myriad opportunities open to all students. Through University College students can engage with the community, enroll in Honors, do grant funded research with McNair, study abroad or participate in the Student Research and Creative Works Symposium.

Students who have come to Eastern Washington University from another country are supported and served by the School of Global Learning, also in University College.

University College is seen as the place for Honors and opportunity by students on the campus. They are encouraged to move between the various units like McNair, Honors, or the Symposium to complete and present research. As Honors moved to a social justice, civic responsibility, and community engagement model they will more closely connect service learning to their classroom coursework.

In the academic year 2018-2019, University College oversaw the revision of Breadth Area Course Requirements for students. These revisions will ensure that all students are creative and analytical thinkers, are information and quantitatively literate, and can write about complex issues. In the academic year 2019-2020 University College oversaw faculty’s revision of Global Studies and Cultural Diversity courses, empowering students to be citizens with a broad understanding of their communities and the world.

As University College serves as an incubator for new ideas in Honors and General Education, it also offers faculty a place to come together, synthesize, and share knowledge in the Faculty Commons within University College. This year's workshops have highlighted inclusive teaching methods, designed to support the diversity of students we attract to campus.
