The BHS Foundation’s 24th annual ‘Tee Off Fore a Healthier Community’ Golf Outing was held on Monday, June 26 at Butler Country Club. A beautiful day of golfing was enjoyed by more than 140 golfers on one of the area’s most challenging and pleasant golf courses. More than $95,000 was raised to support programs and services at Butler Memorial Hospital. Thank you to all of the sponsors, golfers and volunteers who continue to make this event so successful.

Independence Health System Supports Others on Road to Recovery Thanks to Grocer’s Successful Rehabilitation and Fundraising Bike Ride

The birth of a baby brings joy to the parents who have eagerly awaited the arrival. That birth is also anticipated by people who likely will never meet the family but who will benefit from their decision to participate in a unique donation opportunity. Starting in July, new mothers at the Family Additions Maternity Center at Westmoreland Hospital, part of Independence Health System, will be able to make an impact on patients all over the nation through the hospital’s new partnership with TriForLife Birth Tissue Recovery Group which facilitates placenta donations. Birth tissue donation is a type of living donation and does not impact the health of the mother or the newborn and is recognized as the single largest driver of the overall growth in living tissue donations by the American Association of Tissue Banks.

Ray Charley didn’t let a potentially life-ending accident keep him from pursuing his passion for cycling. His tenacity will help others on their road to recovery from surgery, illness or injury thanks to a successful fundraising ride that generated more than $71,000 for specialized rehabilitation equipment now in place at rehabilitation gyms operated by Independence Health System in Unity Township and North Huntingdon Township.
