If you like to make a real difference by what you do, become a volunteer to help older people. People of all ages say it’s great fun and very rewarding. Whether you give an hour or two a month, or a day each week, you could help us deliver our vital services. We can put your skills to good use. You could help by being a befriending volunteer who spends an hour a week visiting a lonely, housebound older person. Or you could be trained to help older people claim the welfare benefits to which they are entitled, which could make the difference between them having a warm home this winter or staying in bed wrapped in blankets. If you’ve got a Will, it’s a good idea to check it’s up to date. Passage of time, changed relationships and updates to legislation, could mean it no longer does what you intended. We offer a free Will review service for this reason. You can instruct us to write a new, or your first, Will too. Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs) for Financial Affairs, and for Health and Welfare, should be registered whilst you have full mental capacity, enabling Attorney(s) to act without delay should the need arise. We will talk you through the process, complete the paperwork with you, and submit your LPA for registration at the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG). Navigating Probate can be enormously stressful, especially in the midst of bereavement. We can manage this process. Costs start at £1,200.
