Age UK Leeds provides innovative and responsive services to both help and support people in later life, and offer opportunities for life enrichment. If you need confidential information please call 0113 389 3004. We offer impartial information and advice on a variety of issues including - money matters; housing, welfare benefits, care services, consumer issues or social activities. We promise to provide accurate up to date information in privacy. We will discuss your problems and provide you with the facts so that you can make choices and decisions based on reliable information. This service is FREE and if we are unable to help you directly we can put you in touch with someone who can. As an alternative office of the Department of Works and Pensions we can help you complete claim forms, verify supporting documents and submit the claim directly to the relevant office.

Age UK Leeds has relied on income from contracts and service level agreements which are specific to individual services. In these difficult times we are looking more towards diversifying our income streams and this includes charitable donations to support our work in Leeds.

Age UK Leeds takes part in various local and national campaigns throughout the year. These campaigns focus on issues that are directly relevant to older people and aim to make life better for older people â&#x20AC;&#x201C; e.g. issues like Winter Warmth, Falls Awareness etc.

Income from personal donations provides valuable income: the addition of Gift Aid helps us to maximise the value to the charity for the benefit of older people in Leeds. We offer fundraising events in Leeds to provide volunteers an opportunity to fundraise in a fun and meaningful way. We are encouraging corporate sponsorship of our services or activities in Leeds.

In 2013 we will be focussing on raising funds Information and Advice and Befriending. If you would like to run an event in aid of Age UK Leeds, we would be delighted. If you want to run a marathon, organise a coffee morning or take part in any challenge we can support your efforts. Legacies make a huge difference to our work in Leeds. If you are thinking of making a gift in your will please let your solicitor know you would like to support Age UK Leeds work. We promise to use your legacy to support people in later life in Leeds. Volunteering

Meeting Room for Hire

Age UK Leeds relies on volunteers in key areas of its organisation. Each year our volunteers provide support for the charity by becoming trustees, delivering Meals at Home, health and wellbeing activities, tutors, information and advice workers, befriending services, intergenerational projects, IT projects and fundraising activities. We offer on the job training, support and out of pocket expenses. We can offer to use your talents and provide you with opportunities to make friends.

Age UK Leeds has a large meeting room for hire, available Monday to Friday, 9am â&#x20AC;&#x201C; 4.30pm. Situated on the ground floor of our city centre Bradbury Building, it is fully wheelchair accessible. Refreshments range from teas and coffees through to delicious buffet lunch from the Arch CafĂŠ next door. The Arch Café is a new venue in Leeds serving great coffee, Yorkshire tea, sandwiches, light lunches, breakfasts and plenty of home baked cakes. We work with some of the regions best local and independent suppliers to serve seasonal and responsibly sourced food and drink. We have free Wi Fi and a great outdoor seating area. Hot drinks, sandwiches and cakes are available to take away.

Our Social Care Team is contracted to provide a range of care services for older people. They include

We are contracted by Leeds City Council to provide a range of IT training courses for older people on a low or no cost basis. Courses range from a basic introduction to IT skills through to Social Networking and Skype. All courses last for 6 weeks and are either run in our IT Suite at the Bradbury Building, or in local community centres or residential care homes.

Leeds Cil is here to help you make your own decisions regarding who provides your care, and what care you receive. Our services are available to people who are Local Authority funded in the form of Direct Payments, or for people who have to fund care privately themselves. We will help you to: Identify your own personal goals. Write a support plan based on the needs in your local authority assessment. Find services to enable you to live more independently. Many people who receive a direct payment or personal budget use the money to recruit their own personal assistant, and our advisers help them to do this. We also offer a competitive Managed Bank Account service for individuals who direct their own care, but have difficulty in opening and/or managing a bank account.
