Hood College Blazers Invade England and Scotland…….. On August 4th through August 13th, 2015 Hood College Men’s Soccer team took a once in a lifetime trip to Manchester, England and Stirling, Scotland. Hood College kick started their trip with a visit and stadium tour of Old Trafford, home to Manchester United. While on the tour the team got a firsthand look at the locker rooms, the clubs trophies, and walked around the 76,000 seated stadium. The team played three international friendly games against local English and Scottish sides. The first of three matches was held at Manchester University against Curzon Ashton, a tough fought match that introduced Hood College to the English football playing style. A training session was held at Manchester United, where the team improved their tactics for its next game in Scotland against Alloa FC U18 squad. Hood College traveled to Chester, England an old historic town, to immerse themselves in the English culture. They explored local shops and experienced the English culture by interacting with local street performers. Hood then continued onto Liverpool, England where they toured Anfield, home to Liverpool FC, explored downtown Liverpool and toured the Beatle’s Museum which pays tribute to The Beatles. Their time in England wrapped up with a visit to Goodison Park, where they watched a great match between Everton and Watford. The trip continued onto Scotland where they toured historic Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile. They ended their time in Scotland with a visit to Celtic Park home to Celtic FC one of the oldest soccer teams in the world. They viewed the trophy room, locker room and walked along the 67,000 seated stadium. Overall, Hood College’s trip to England and Scotland was a once in a lifetime experience, where as a team they gained memories that will last forever.
