As Deloitte Africa’s Chief Digital and Innovation Officer, Valter oversees Deloitte’s Digital and Innovation portfolios. He leads a diverse team of specialists who create a leading digital
ecosystem to assist organisations in understanding and undergoing Digital Transformation whilst uplifting their Digital Experiences and becoming Digital at the Core, in order to remain viable and competitive in a world of ever-changing digital technologies.
He is a corporate entrepreneur with extensive experience in building new businesses across a variety of industries. He works mostly with blue-chip clients assisting them in re-imagining their businesses or identifying high value, innovative business opportunities, and rapidly commercialising them into sustainable businesses.
Valter was previously the leader and founding director of Monitor Deloitte, following Deloitte’s acquisition of the Monitor group. Valter is also a member of Deloitte’s Global Innovation Executive Committee, and Africa’s Life Sciences and Healthcare Industry Leader.
“Having received special commendation in the previous edition of these Awards, the judges found it fit to reconsider Valter
Adao for the winner’s trophy in 2020,” Head Judge Janette
Minnaar remarked. “He has done and continues to excel within the digital space despite not being a conventional ‘IT professional’. We like that he was part of those that identified technology as a gap for business re-imagination rather than a marketing or support accessory.
Despite being an advocate for tech,
Valter still recognises that people development remains a priority for any professional services firm. Finally, his participation as a faculty member of the Singularity University made him a stand-out nominee from the other interviewees in the digital industry category.”
Deloitte were also recipients of the Young Professional of the Year in the Commerce, Law and Management Category granted to Harsha Desai, a manager at the firm.
