Local Connection

Sancerre Atlee Station is situated in an area with deep historical roots and we understand the significance of honoring this rich history just as you, your family, and the community do.

Atlee has long been a pillar in the community symbolizing connectivity all the way back to the Civil War when it was the nearest telegraph office north of Richmond. As such, Sancerre Atlee Station was strategically placed within the center of the community to provide a place to maintain connections and gather. The Virginia Central Railroad continues to operate with trains sweeping through the grasses to the west of our community, and our home has several design details inspired by The Rutland House.

Opportunities are abundant to explore the local history, whether in our library or on an afternoon outing to nearby historical markers such as Richmond National Battlefield Park, Patrick Henry’s birthplace, Lee’s Headquarters, the WWII Memorial Wall, or the Liberty Golden Eagle.

Sancerre Atlee Station is located adjacent to the Atlee Station Family YMCA in the heart of Mechanicsville in Hanover County.
