INVESTEC SUPER RUGBY & ALL BLACKS 2015 In the first year of professional rugby in 1996, the first official ‘international domestic’ tournament featuring the strongest teams across New Zealand, South Africa and Australia was born - the Super 12 Rugby competition. This competition continued until 2006, when the Super 14 was established. From 2011 we saw the expansion yet again and Super 15 was born. The 2015 season will be the last Super Rugby season in the current format before it is once again expanded in 2016 to an 18 team competition consisting of an Australasian Group (5 teams from Australia, 5 teams from New Zealand) and an African Group (6 teams from South Africa, 1 team from Argentina and 1 team from either Japan or Singapore). The Crusaders have won the Super Rugby competition under both the Super 12 and Super 14 formats, but never the Super 15 competition. This coming season offers the Crusaders the last opportunity to do so prior to the Super 18 in 2016. In previous years, the Super Rugby competition has traditionally had a one month break in June for tours by International sides to New Zealand, Australia and South Africa. Due to Rugby World Cup 2015, Investec Super Rugby will commence on 13th February with the final being played on July 4th. The Rugby Championship 2015 will be a reduced Championship, with each team playing each other once rather than twice at home and away. This ensures teams have a longer preparation time ahead of the 2015 Rugby World Cup which starts on 18th September. Christchurch will host the only Rugby Championship fixture being played in New Zealand in 2015 when the All Blacks play Argentina at AMI Stadium on Friday 17th July. The All Blacks sit atop the IRB World Rugby rankings leading into the Rugby World Cup 2015, and as current world champions are looking to defend their title and win their first Rugby World Cup on foreign soil. By booking your Crusaders Season & All Blacks Test Match packages you will secure your test match tickets to this highly awaited test match. With the anticipated popularity of this one and only Rugby Championship Test Match being played in New Zealand in the lead up to Rugby World Cup 2015, hospitality packages for the Test Match will not be sold on an individual match only basis.
