MONTHS OF TRAVEL:

DAY 1: Join trip in Antananarivo, capital of Madagascar.

DAY 2: Drive south via Antsirabe to Ranomafana National Park. Set up camp, keep an eye out for lemur and bird.

DAYS Rainforest trek. Searching for 3–4: wildlife, particularly the endangered golden bamboo lemur. Soak in thermal baths at Ranomafana.

DAY 5: Drive to Ambalavao and visit the Anja Reserve, home to the ringtailed lemur.

DAYS Continue to Andringitra National 6–7: Park. Trek between forest campsites in one of Madagascar’s most biodiverse areas.

DAY 8: Hike to the summit of Imarivolanitra (2,658m), Madagascar’s highest climbable peak.

DAYS Continue to Isalo National Park. 9–10: Walk among sandstone landscapes. Relax in natural pools.

DAY 11: Hike out of the park. Travel to Toliara via Zombitse National Park, a dry forest. Continue to Ifaty.

DAY 12: Spend the day on Ifaty Beach. Opportunities to go bird-watching or snorkelling.

DAYS Fly back to Antananarivo. Walk 13–14: through typical highland landscapes of rice paddies and villages.

DAY 15: Trip ends in Antananarivo.
