he Green Flag awards
Trecognise well managed parks throughout the country and demonstrate that the spaces meet the needs of the communities they serve.
The international award confirms that Essex Country Parks, for the third year running, boast the highest possible environmental standards, are well maintained and have excellent visitor facilities. The Essex Country Parks of Belhus Woods, Cudmore Grove, Danbury, Great Notley, Hadleigh, Thorndon and Weald have all received Green Flag status and will be displaying their flags within the park grounds.
Recent research conducted by BritianThinks - on behalf of Essex County Council and the Essex Climate Action Commission - revealed that 98% of the county’s residents agreed that accessing nature and green spaces was important to them. Essex Forest Initiative is calling for volunteers
The Essex Forest Initiative (EFI) is Essex County Council’s tree planting scheme which includes urban, rural and woodland planting. More than 143,000 trees have been planted so far and the EFI is now working towards its third-year planting target of 75,000 trees.
Landowners considering plans involving tree planting should contact the EFI. The EFI can support, advise and create projects in a very flexible manner but adhere to the delivery of the right tree in the right place. You can also participate by joining EFI volunteering days.
