Geochemical Sequential leach Sequential leach procedures are used to selectively extract mineral species within a soil or rock sample. Using this technique it is possible to gain a greater understanding of the geochemical composition of the sample. This may have a significant bearing on the economic viability of the mineral deposit. A sequential leach procedure is also a very useful technique to determine the likely environmental impact of mineral extraction and mining. Typical extractants include deionised water, ammonium acetate, sodium pyrophosphate, hydroxylamine hydrochloride. Other extractants are available (depending on the mineral species) by request.
