Innovation is a state of mind from r&d to industrial scale-up
The House of Extrusion
®
The most innovative European extrusion centre for packaging and converting is Bandera. The brand new centre, housing R&D activities and wet tests on complete production lines, is 3,000 m2 and it is the result of a € 4 million investment. The House of Extrusion is a pragmatic sign of Bandera’s vision. Jointly with customers, industry, academia and research centres, Bandera opens the doors to create new solutions that anticipate the market needs. Bandera R&D team is focussed daily on developing innovative solutions in the following extrusion technologies. • Blown film for the flexible packaging and converting/printing industries (net width range from 600 to 2,800 mm, up to 9 layers - polyolefin based materials, PA, barrier and biodegradable materials) • Blown film for agriculture (up to 22 m net width, up to 7 layers - polyolefin, polyammide and barrier materials) • Rigid film for the food and industrial rigid packaging and the form/fill/seal industries (net width range from 600 to 2,200 mm, up to 7 layers - APET, CPET, foam PET, HIPS, PP, PLA, barrier and postconsumer recycled materials) • High thickness film for waterproofing systems (up to 8.5 m net width) • Medium-high thickness sheets for a variety of applications: PP and HDPE automotive components; ultra-polished ABS, PMMA, PET and PP furniture panels; ABS and HIPS sheets for household appliances, industrial sheets in PC and composites You can develop R&D in The House of Extrusion either independently or in joint collaboration with us in order, if you wish, to create a new IP (Intellectual Property) portfolio.
Extruding Future Plastics Now
®
EA - Extrusion Academy is a place where to co-develop advanced extrusion solutions with us or via the acquisition of one of the new line of laboratory extruders. ®
With an Extrusion Academy line inside The House of Extrusion or installed in your research centre, it will be possible to explore many new applications like 3D printer filaments, plastic photovoltaics, plastic electronics, smart packaging, flexible sensors, etc. via nano composites like graphene and other 2D materials in/on plastics. The new twin-screw 2C 15-45 L/D allows to test many polymers with a production range from 0.3-4.0 kg/h and additives in solution down to 36 cc/h (≥0.009% at 1% solution).
Bandera is a pioneer in developing physical foaming process into recycled PET or PLA films for the packaging industry. We are looking at the long term future with new projects already started in the field of IoP - Internet of Packaging for intelligent/smart packaging and IoE - Internet of Extrusion for Industrial Internet of Things applied to predictive maintenance and the new frontier of Industry 4.0. Particularly important is the liaison with academia giving universities the possibility to place graduate students in our facilities to pursue their research linked to the plastics extrusion process.

No matter which extrudable polymer you intend to work with, we can modify and adapt our blown film and rigid flat die technologies - integrated with lamination, coating and printing solutions - to any request. We are currently collaborating with the major universities and R&D centres: CGC - Cambridge Graphene Centre, Cambridge, UK; University of Trento, Italy; and IIT Istituto Italiano Tecnologia, Italy to mention a few. As we started working with graphene and other 2D materials, and with our recent experience in nanoparticle loading, our goal has been to bring the extrusion process to the forefront of future plastics, whilst scaling up research to industrial production inside the same facilities of The House of Extrusion, bringing your production from 0.3 to 3,000 kg/h.
Being a Bandera partner in experimenting and researching means you can benefit from our long time expertise and leadership in the plastics extrusion market
