Marc Horowitz is an American artist. His output varies between youtube videos of how much gum he can chew , to installations at the most exclusive art galleries in europe. His work epitomises the cross over of art, performance,comedy and just all round greatness. The tar pit of disillusionment and cynicism feels warm. Weary from the struggle, drifting in and out of consciousness, I no longer feel trapped. Instead I imagine I am cradled, held tight by a higher power who knows what I need better than I do. It almost feels like how I imagine love to feel, perhaps this is love? Giving up – becoming one with everything and nothing. Let me stay here and rest… A scene flickers into life suddenly, my eyes are closed but I can see blue skies , brilliant blue and a seagull swooping in and out of vision. My desire is perfect and simple, my minds EYE LUST ’s for life. Blood surges into my limbs, my eyes open and I scream to the seagulls overhead, crawling to the bank, the green, muddy slimy beautiful bank, heaving my tarred tired body onto the grass. There is nothing more than I can see. Tunnel vision and now everything is beautiful. These puny balls want it all, like David and Goliath they care nothing for the tripod body and brain which props them up and perpetually, pathetically pontificates . They want nothing but visceral visual voyerism, and they drag my forlorn flesh along for the joy ride to view the world anew, the exquisite everything EYE LUST for, EYE LIVE for, EYE LOVE. EYE LUST for life. EYE LUST for love. EYE LUST for everyone and everything.
