Carmarthen Market is a must which has been around for m 800 years since Henry II grante Charter to trade in 118 for the next market, which is located behind the Clock Tower, on Friday, June 7. The market is held from 9am-3pm. Love Your Local Market is a national campaign led by the National Association of British Market Authorities (NABMA) & backed by Central Government & the wider market industry. Almost 600 markets across the UK are taking part. The campaign aims to attract new market traders & also aims to highlight the importance that markets play in the heart of the local community, not only for retail but they are a valuable community asset.

Carmarthenshire County Council Executive Board Member responsible for markets, Cllr Jeff Edmunds, said: “A number of events have been planned in Carmarthen Market during this National 10 campaign. Telephone: 08443 911618
st see place r more than anted a Royal 1180. “I hope that shoppers will continue to support the market and its traders, not only throughout the Love Your Local Market fortnight but also throughout the year.” Carmarthen Market is a must see place which has been around for more than 800 years since Henry II granted a Royal Charter to trade in 1180. Although it dates back to Roman times, it has been cleverly updated to become a Mecca for food-lovers by offering some of the best local produce in Wales. The market is sited in a modern, airy £4million hall which houses 74 traders selling everything from thimbles, art and handmade jewellery, to the cake favoured by Prince Charles, antiques and Welsh hams. A huge variety of local cheeses, vegetables, home cooked meats and cockles and mussels with that
whiff of the sea attract shoppers from across the region. On Wednesdays and Saturdays, the popular outdoor market brings in crowds with its interesting mix of goods, and on the first Friday of every month the Farmer’s Market visits the town, located behind the iconic Clock Tower you can find arts and crafts and food produce by local producers. The market is open six days a week from 9.30am to 4.30pm, Monday-Saturday. The hustle and bustle, friendly banter between traders and shoppers stopping to gossip makes for a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere – why not pop in and see? Visit www.carmarthenshiremarkets.co.uk for the latest news, events and more information on all 11 the market stalls.
Fathers’ Day with the Kids While the kids are young, making presents for Fathers Day will not only keep them busy for a few hours but is a lovely idea guaranteed to put a smile on dad’s face. MAKE A FATHERS DAY CARD Get out the colouring pencils, glue sticks, glitter and scissors. Clear a space on the kitchen table and let the kids get creative. Let them draw pretty pictures of them and their dad and decorate them as they wish. Let them get creative and make a 3D Father’s Day card. If they’re struggling for ideas of how to decorate their card, get them to think of things they love doing with their dad. Whatever their cards turn out like, dad is bound to love it. PERSONALISED MUG If dad likes a good cup of tea or coffee why not get your kids to decorate a mug? All you’ll need is a plain mug suitable to decorate. Get your kids to draw pretty pictures or write a sweet little message to their dad. In craft shops you can find child friendly ceramic paint kits specially designed to be used on crockery. Bear in mind however that you may need to bake the mugs cold to set the paints. Visit from www.carmartheneye.co.uk
MAKE A FATHERS DAY COLLAGE OR SCRAPBOOK Collect together with the kids some of their favourite photographs of them and their dad along with some mementos and keepsakes they have to present to him in the form of a collage or scrapbook. Ask them to write a sentence about why they chose that photograph underneath so he can enjoy reminiscing in the morning . If they make a collage, you could frame it to give it a finished look or if they choose to make a scrapbook, then they could add a page or two each Fathers day to come! BREAKFAST IN BED On Fathers Day morning, wake the kids up a little earlier to prepare a perfect breakfast in bed for Dad. Ask them to help you prepare toast, cereal or American style pancakes and don’t forget the tea or coffee! If dad favours a full cooked breakfast then visit your local farmers market to buy locally sourced sausage, bacon and eggs, and complete with baked beans, mushrooms, tomatoes and hash browns. Place the breakfast treats on a tray and decorate it with the card and personalised mug for the perfect Fathers Day breakfast. Fathers Day takes place on June 16th 2013 this year so 12 make sure you don’t forget! Telephone: 08443 911618

Simple Steps to Buying a Car Buying a car is an exciting prospect for many buyers, especially for first time buyers. Here are a few helpful tips to consider when buying a car.
Once you’ve decided which car is your favourite, check the running costs. How much is the insurance going to cost you? How much is the cars road tax? Taking into consideration the cars monthly costs will help you get a rounded idea of its overall cost. Take a look at finance options to gain that the dealer provides to see if they can offer you anything better. Usually dealer finance includes extras like free courtesy cars and free road tax for a year, so it’s well worth looking into.
Draw up a shortlist of potential makes and models. This will help you determine what kind of car you are looking for. Make a note of whether you are looking for a small, medium or large car and whether there are any makes you are more interested in. Visit your local car showrooms and garages to see what they have to offer. This can give you a good idea of prices. It also allows you to have a good look at the cars and decide whether you like the overall appearance of them.
Next, negotiate with your dealer. Show the dealer you are interested in the car. See how far they are willing to drop the initial price of the car and what extras they are willing to include.
Now for the fun part, take them out for a test drive. Ask to take them for a spin around the area to see how they are to drive. Take notice of what the gears feel like and how long they take to reach the speed limit. Ask yourself how it feels to drive them. Do you enjoy driving it, or do you find it difficult to handle? What condition is the car interior? Asking yourself these questions is bound to determine which car is your favourite.
Visit www.carmartheneye.co.uk
When you have a good idea of what you are looking for and what car fi ts your needs and budget, buying the car will be the easiest bit.
