How to Make Pancakes! so that it spreads evenly in the pan. Spoon some of the batter into the centre of the hot pan, and tip from side to side. The batter should take approximately 30 seconds to cook on one side. Gently lift the edges of the pancake to see if it’s golden. If it is, turn it on to the other side and leave it to cook as before.

Pancake Day (Shrove Tuesday) Falls on February 4th this Year! Kids love pancakes, and with Pancake Day approaching, now’s the perfect time to start practicing those flipping skills. Pancakes are simple and easy to make. All is required is: 4oz of plain flour sifted A pinch of salt, 2 eggs 7floz of milk 2oz of butter Once you have all the ingredients ready, put the flour into a bowl with the salt. Lightly beat together the egg and milk and mix in with the flour, making sure you only add a little of the egg and milk at at time. Whisk well until the batter is smooth and thick. Heat your frying pan on the highest setting and place a knob of butter on the pan and tip from side to side

Visit www.pembseye.co.uk

Now you’re ready for the fun part. Wiggle the pan to make sure the pancake is not sticking and gently toss the pancake and catch it so it lands in the pan. Instead of just having pancakes for pudding, why not make a meal of it and have pancakes for your main dinner and dessert? Melted cheese, bacon and tomato make for a yummy pancake filling or maybe try chicken in a creamy cheese sauce. A nice alternative to the traditional lemon and sugar filling is to have a banana and toffee filling with ice cream. Or melt some chocolate and peanut butter to make a tasty nutty filling.

Half Term Ideas Half Term comes quicker than Christmas these days, and there’s always the question of what you’ll do to occupy the kids for a whole week! Do not fear though as we’ve come up with a list of ideas for you to take inspiration from. HAVE A FILM DAY If it’s looking a bit glum outside, transform your living room into a cinema! Spend the day making popcorn holders and popcorn and pick a few films to watch. Draw the curtains, turn the lights out and let them get comfortable by placing all the cushions from your sofa on the floor. Stock up on some ice cream, sweets and soft drinks for in between the films and sit back, relax and joy all the pleasures a home cinema can bring. PIZZA PARTY Everybody loves pizza and it tastes even better when you’ve made it yourself. Head to the shops and buy some pizza bases, tomato puree and of course the cheese! Buy a selection of different pizza toppings both the usual (pepperoni, ham, pineapple, olives or mushrooms) and the unusual. Lay all your ingredients out on the table and get pizza making! Help them spread the tomato puree on the bases and let them go as crazy as they want with the toppings. Pop them

Visit www.pembseye.co.uk

in the oven and voila! There you have some yummy pizzas to feast on! Sounds delish. OUT AND ABOUT If the skies outside are blue then there is no excuse to get outside and embrace the good weather with a walk. The crisp February weather is the perfect time to roam the countryside or visit your local park and look for snowdrops in the woodland areas. Take some bird feed or frozen peas for the ducks (not bread as it’s bad for their diet), wrap up warm and enjoy a day out. LEISURE CENTRES AND LOCAL ACTIVITIES If you’d prefer to get them out of the house this half term why not get them to start a new hobby. Your local leisure centre will have special activities on during half term such as swimming days, rough and tumble days and other special sports clubs for your children to enjoy. Make the most of local stables too who may be holding special taster days for children who are interested in horse riding. If any of these ideas take their fancy, maybe they’ll be inspired to make it into a regular activity so by the time the next holiday of half term comes round they’ll be able to come up with their own ideas.

A garage that aims to go that extra mile With one year under their belts, JT Auto Services have gone from strength to strength... AS well as employing James Perkins and Chris Riggs, JT has also asked another former colleague, Matthew South, to join the JT team. Dan Stanton has also recently started on his apprenticeship. With honest and impartial advice to customers and a friendly staff attitude, the JT ethos has paid dividends. The pick-up and drop off service has also been a great success with customers finding it easier to book in for MOT/services/tyres and so on. JT has also added two more vehicles to the courtesy car fleet - another benefit for customers. With a large stock of tyres, a paint refurbishment service through Sior Jones of Paint FX, and electrical diagnostics, everything your vehicle needs is covered at JT Auto Services.

The garage is open 8.30am-5.30pm, Monday to Friday, and 8am-12.30pm on Saturdays, making it even easier to fit essential motor maintenance around your busy schedule.

Servicing • MOT Repairs • Tyres

JT Autos would like to thank all customers and suppliers for their appreciated support in making their first year in business an enjoyable success. Visit www.pembseye.co.uk
