An environmentally friendly outdoor lighting family that takes its inspiration and power from the nature.

What? It is an outdoor lighting family consists of pole top fixture, pillar mounted fixture and bollard designed for METU campus.

Pole top fixture of the family produces its own energy by the solar panel which is placed on top and combined with the curved form of fixture.

The same curves that create the shape of pole top are also used from dierent angles for shaping the bollard and wall mounted fixture.

Why? Research METU Campus and its existing lighting fixtures were observed.

Problems: - They have a very old technologhy of lighting in terms of energy efficiency and sustainabilty. - They are operated by mains electricity and for each fixture there has to be electrical infrastructure built. - All the cables and electronic components need to be easily reachable for fixing. However, this also facilitates people and animals to reach and interact with them, especially due to physical deterioration in time. - There is no enough personnel for maintanence of fixtures.

Insights: The product must be energy efficient. It must require less effort to fix and maintain. It must be sustainable. It has to reflect the METU identity.

A tea set that aims to enhance the tea serving and drinking experience.

What? It is a tea set consists of tea glass, saucer, sugar bowl and packagins designed by blending dynamic curves with static forms.

How? Modelling Laser Cutting

3D Printing

Finalization

The stillness of tea glass and sugar bowl contrasts with the kinetic curves of the saucer and lid creating visual tension in the form.

CHASER Interactive robot toy that brings a new perspective to traditional “Catch Me If You Can” game.

What?

How?

Controlled by the microcontroller Arduino Uno, Chaser is an interactive robot toy that chases people around and tries to catch.

It measures its circular field with the ultrasonic sensors and evaluates the distance data recieved from targets.

Every sensor gets 7 spesific distance data in a very short time to evaluate the distance of possible targets accurately.

Since it is an outdoor toy, it can be played in open areas such as gardens or yards of houses and picnic sites.

If there is a target object closer than 150 cm, it starts to chase. The only thing that can distract him is another target object which approaches more than 70 cm. Circuit Scheme - Breadboard - Arduino Uno - 2 DC motors - 5V powerbank - L298N motor driver - 3 ultrasonic sensors
