INTRODUCING THE WORK OF MATEUSZ GAPSKI, AKA ‘BEZT’ WWW.EYESONWALLS.COM/COLLECTIONS/BEZT
Bezt has made a name for himself as one half of the street art muralist powerhouse ETAM CRU, a collaborative project with comrade Sainer. Based in Poland, the artists have earned the respect of the street art community worldwide painting surrealistic murals across their native country as well as in countries such as Norway, Bulgaria, Germany, Austria, Russia, Portugal, Belgium and recently even stateside in Richmond, VA.
showcase the artist’s massive talents. His powerful color palette and stylistic anti-gravity character focus effectively bring a strong sense of fluidity and suspension to each of his pieces. Bezt is an artist on the rise and Eyes On Walls is proud to be the first to make some of his best studio work available as prints.
While ETAM CRU’s full-scale building sized murals have put Polish street art on the map, Bezt’s extensive solo portfolio of wall murals and canvas work stand firmly on their own and 5

PEZ is based in Nantes, France. His work goes deep - in both content and contrast - creating rich textures and often dark, almost decomposing subject matter. This exclusive collection of work originally drawn in pencil with incredible detail, shows PEZ’s talent for fusing graffiti elements into captivating dreamlike scenarios. 15

LUKE CHUEH
A NEW SPIN ON THE “FARM-TO-TABLE” MOVEMENT WWW.EYESONWALLS.COM/COLLECTIONS/LUKE-CHUEH
“Like a cuddly Trojan horse, Chueh’s work is pretty on the outside, but nice and macabre on the inside” - Entertainment Weekly Luke has earned worldwide cult acclaim for his often ill-fated animal portraits. His active role in the Los Angeles underground art scene brought him quick success when he first started exhibiting his paintings in 2003. Taking hints from his past in advertising design, many of Chueh’s pieces quickly draw emotion from the viewer using the contrast of a cute and approachable animal character in the midst of an often brutal or heart breaking situation. Take for instance, Chueh’s ‘Revenge
is a Dish’ series which is now available from Eyes On Walls as open edition fine art prints. Bringing a whole new meaning to the phrase “farm-to-table”, these works still manage to pull empathy from even the most voracious meat eater. This unique duality has attracted a dedicated audience and has brought Chueh continued success in museums and galleries around the world as well as collaborations with Fall Out Boy, Linkin Park, Kid Robot and Sanrio to name a few. He has also established a prominent position in the designer toy scene with highly-collectible three dimensional vinyl interpretations of his art. It is our pleasure to have Luke Chueh as a part of the Eyes On Walls collective of artists. 19

WHERE IT’S MADE
A LOOK INSIDE THE EOW AR T FACTORY Since establishing as its own company in 2010, Eyes On Walls has grown from a product line existing within a 20+ year old Canadian art distribution company into a global art brand. After a huge year of growth in 2012, we moved to a building that is over 50% bigger with 12,600 square feet of printing, production, framing, and office space. This new space is an investment in better serving our customers and artists with new products, expert printing processes, more art and faster turnaround times. With the blank canvas of a new office, we were also able to project elements of the Eyes On Walls brand and culture into the space. We put in a lot of aesthetic improvements including a 30 x 20 foot art wall in the printing area, a mock retail store in the entryway and a gallery of framed Artist Proofs from every Limited Edition print that we’ve released running throughout the halls and meeting areas.

A crew of nearly 20 people work out of our Montreal office, nearly all of them directly involved in all the stages from an order being received to a finished piece of art being packaged and shipped out the door. Strategically located in Montreal we are well positioned for shipping into Europe. We also ship and receive out of New York so orders destined for the United States are never subject to duty or customs delays. We’re incredibly grateful to our partners, customers, artists and everyone that has helped us build this business and we look forward to serving you better as we continue to evolve and grow Eyes On Walls in 2014 and beyond.

ALEX CHERRY INTERVIEW
Where sound meets vision, digital works inspired by music from the creative mind of Los Angeles based digital artist Alex Cherry.
Tell us a bit about your process, how do you start a piece?
Are there any pieces that have a story that you’d like to share?
There are two major components. Inspiration first, and music second. Everything comes from the music I listen to. When inspiration strikes, and I have an idea, my next job is to find a song to marry it to. Choosing a song informs the title of the piece, and provides a guideline for what I want people to feel with my idea.
I think it’s better for people to make their own stories. I will say, however, that “Ænema” and “Lost in the World” share a common ancestry that no one I know of seems to have noticed yet.
Do you have a studio in the traditional sense? Where do you do your work?
I learn a lot from fellow artists at EOW, like Lora Zombie. I have been thoroughly impressed by Kanye’s work with DONDA. George Condo. Ian Francis. Jony Ive at Apple continues to be an inspiration, and more recently Stefan Sagmeister. Especially his TED talks. I would love to see what Banksy is up to.
Yes and no. Because I am more design influenced, my studio resembles that of a writers more than a traditional artist. I have a small dining area between my living room and kitchen which I’ve turned into a library that I keep inspirational material; this is where I do my most substantial work. I also sit in a rocking chair for several hours a day. It’s weird. I know. You’ve said that music is your biggest inspiration. What type of music inspires your work? What are you currently listening to? Soul. I try not to limit myself to genres, so I look for and love anything with a soul. A lot of my earlier work was informed by Rock, but that’s changed... It no longer feels as relevant. I would say Hip Hop, especially when fused with the newer incarnations of electronic music, is the most inspiring to me right now. My favorites like Kanye, Odd Future, Kendrick and A$AP Rocky have really changed the way I listen to music. Listening to them teaches me to simplify my ideas... and just have more fun with it. Do all of the titles of your pieces come directly from songs? Mostly... yes. I’ve written a few of them, though. 32
Who are your favorite artists/designers right now?
What do you try/want to accomplish as an artist? Reaching a bigger audience has always been my goal. Then it’s on to directing. Do you have any projects in the works that we can be on the lookout for? “Yes! Did you know that sharks drown if they stop moving? They have to stay active. That’s exactly how I feel; if I’m not working on something, I will drown. I always try to stay busy, moving toward something. Right now, it’s finishing new work. I’ve learned a lot in the last year, and I don’t think my work reflects everything that I’ve learned… yet.”

THE MORNING AFTER BY HIDDEN MOVES “The Morning After is a piece that experiments with simple storytelling. The character is loosely based on myself, and how I feel the morning after a late night out. The clothing, accessories and posture all try to convey the character’s mood, while his request for coffee is a less than subtle hint that maybe he imbibed a little too much the night before.” * NOW AVAILABLE AS A LIMITED EDITION PRINT FROM EYES ON WALLS (EYESONWALLS.COM)
