Your Key to Lake Country
Call Deanna today and discover what true excellence can mean for you.
’Twas Closing Time ’Twas the week before Christmas, we were closing on the house, everyone was happy, even the mouse. The papers were ready, prepared with great care, the buyers and sellers soon would be there. The roads were all glistening, with new fallen snow, the problems would be many, if the wind should blow. However, no worry, our First Weber agent had arrived, satisfaction of her clients was for what she had strived. The closing took place without a hitch, even with bad roads no one slid in the ditch. Now ’tis Christmas and all through the house, the buyers are happy, even the mouse. The sellers are delighted, they were handled with care, their money is invested, with some to spare. The moral of the story, I’ll try to rhyme, remember this, as I’ll tell you one time. No matter the month, the day or the year, just give a call

Celebration of Rural Living
Wherever you’re from, there’s nothing like a trip to a country barn gathering to put folks in the holiday spirit. Heritage Beam and Board LLC. is hosting its second annual Christmas Barn Sale in Elkhorn, November 30–December 1. Barnwood furniture, farm eclectics, antiques, holiday decor, greens, funky junk and vintage inspiration will fill the barn along with cider, coffee, and holiday treats. Designs
will be featured from Ahndeamay.com and LindsayLetters.com with creative styling by Off the Beaten Path. All this set against the backdrop of a lit-up and cozy old country barn. Heritage Beam and Board, LLC. was started by Adam Krauklis and Seth Hanson. These two lifelong friends share a fond appreciation for both the history of country farmsteads and the materials and craftsmanship with which they were built. So what started out as a quick trip to a local barn to get some cool wood for a home project has grown into a passion for preserving the rural past. “Our goal at Heritage is to reclaim the wood from falling down barns and repurpose it in different ways so it can be appreciated and enjoyed today and by future generations,” said Krauklis. Heritage offers barnwood beams, siding, furniture, mantels, barn doors and ladders, and the always intriguing unique barn treasure. One of their signature Continued on page 29

Whether making decades-old family favorites or starting new holiday baking traditions, you can create homemade holiday goodies in a (ginger) snap. “The holidays are a time when families are in the kitchen at record rates to bake cookies, build gingerbread houses and create a wide variety of sweet treats,” says Nancy Siler, vice president of consumer affairs at Wilton. “The good news is, even if you only have 30 minutes to spare during this hectic time, you can make amazing desserts for gatherings or gifting.”
Try these easy treat ideas from Wilton to spread holiday cheer: Holiday Helpers: Invite family and friends for a cookie decorating day to help prepare gifts for upcoming events. You provide the Sparkling Sugars and Sprinkles, Peppermint Twisted Sticks and red and green icing…everyone else provides the creativity. Miracle on Your Street: Crunched for time with a party to attend? Pick up ready-to-eat cookies and artfully dip them in red and green Candy Melts candy for an elegant upgrade. No one has to know how simple it was to create a customized dessert. WISCONSIN COUNTRY LIFE

Winter Elegance The muted magnificence of winter’s palette and beauty are captured in this centerpiece created entirely of natural materials. Shades of green, ranging from deep forest to light sage, are highlighted with ivory and raspberry colored accents. Monches Farm’s floral designers Johanna Kleckner and Sue Morgan have been creating floral art for more than 25 years. They would be happy to work with you to create a custom piece for your home using your design colors and reflecting your personal style. Call them at Monches Farm at (262) 966-2787 for a consultation. To create this piece Sue used (all natural materials, dried or preserved): Green glazed ceramic vase 1 block of floral foam 4 stems white Pinto Berries 2 stems Sola Fan 4 stems preserved wintergreen Cedar 1 bunch preserved chartreuse Baby Eucalyptus 1 bunch Nigella 3 stems preserved bleached Eucalyptus 1 bunch Blackberry Lily 4 stems preserved Salal 1 bunch red Grabia 1 bunch preserved chartreuse seeded Eucalyptus 5 cream colored Roses Secure the floral foam in the vase, and then create the outline of the arrangement by first placing the foliage elements (Eucalyptus, Salal and Cedar). Because this is a circular centerpiece, you’ll want to make sure the material is all evenly distributed throughout the piece. Next add the Grabia, Pinto Berries and seeded Eucalyptus. Lastly add the fragile dried floral elements (the Nigella and the dried Roses). Photos by Stonehill Studio
