EUROPEAN YOUTH PARLIAMENT FINLAND
Vision Booklet Lempäälä Digital Regional Session of EYP Finland
Call for Organisers Dear applicant, We are beyond excited to present you our vision for Lempäälä digital regional session of 2021! Celebrating the 20th year of EYP Finland and being the first ever spring regional of EYP Finland this session will be going down in history. Our number one priority will be delegates’ wellbeing and experience. They are the “customers” of the session and therefore that’s why we need to provide them with a good basis. We want to give them, and all participants, the whole EYP experience as much as we can, even though the session will be held in a digital format. We will try our hardest to make every participant feel like they are not at home, but at a session. It is extremely important to us that everyone feels warm, welcome and comfortable, especially since in a digital format it is easy to feel isolated. These implements will also have an influence in how the officials enjoy the session. Transparency, good communication both between and within teams will be another important aspect of the session. In order for every official to have an amazing session, everyone needs to feel that they are included and valued. Lastly, we are looking for motivated and active organisers. We value team players and expect you to take care of your tasks while trying to help others the best you can. We are hoping for positive vibes and a well-bonded orga team that also knows how to have fun. So pack your party hats and get ready to celebrate Wappu and EYP Finland’s birthday with us!
Call for Vice Presidents and Chairpersons Dear potential applicant, Thank you for considering applying to Lempäälä 2021 and for taking the time to read my vision. I hope that the following words will help you reach a decision and motivate you to join me in the Academic Team. As President, my main aim will be to foster an environment focused on collaboration. On an academic level, this means that the team’s final work should include inputs from all its members. For this reason, I look forward to establishing knowledge-sharing as a pillar, and consequently holding fruitful discussions, in order to achieve more efficient work methods and higher-quality outputs. However, on a personal level, this also signifies that the Academic Team should act as a support system for its elements. Although there will be a hierarchy within the team, I wish for everyone to be open with each other and comfortable sharing their mistakes, fears, insecurities and struggles. Just like we will share each other’s successes, I hope that we can also share each other’s low points, and overcome them together as a unified team. Regarding personal development, I wish to provide my Chairpersons and Vice-Presidents with freedom to fail. In my past experiences in the Academic Team, I have found joy and fulfilment in innovation and originality, through experimenting with new methods and tools. I strongly believe that stepping out of our comfort zone is a fast-track to selfimprovement. As such, I look forward to supporting the Chairs’ Team members in their own experimentation journeys, whether they are a huge success or fall short of expectations. Lastly, I am well-aware that I will be requiring a high-level of initiative and commitment from my team’s members. Nonetheless, welfare, specially that regarding psychological tiredness, is a very important aspect to me, and one that I find can often be forgotten in a digital setting. Therefore, I will make it my personal goal to ensure that everyone has appropriate time to rest, taking into account not only the work done during the session schedule, but also outside of it (such as planning and preparing materials). I hope that you found my vision an interesting read. Should you have any further questions, please feel free to write me a message. Eagerly waiting to read your application,
Margarida
Call for Editorial Assistant(s) and Journalists Dear potential applicant, If you are reading this, we hope that you are considering applying to RS Lempäälä 2021. Our names are Ilma Šahinović and Daniel Buna and We will be leading the Media Team of the session. Our vision for the team is based around four pillars: Teamwork, opportunity, innovation and reform. As for the first pillar, our goal for the Team, not only just for the Media Team but for the whole Officials Team is one of teamwork and cooperation. We, together with the rest of the Leadership of the session want to create an atmosphere where teamwork between teams is both encouraged and supported, and of course expected within the individual teams, be it the media team supporting the academics team, or the academics team including MTMs in their committees, our wish is that you grow in a positive and friendly environment. As for the second pillar, opportunity, our goal here is to encourage you all to apply, no matter your experience. EYP is a learning opportunity you should use, and you should not be discouraged from applying for positions because you feel you don’t have the skills for those positions. Rather, those positions are there for you to apply and to give you those skills which you can use later in life. Furthermore, talking about the third pillar, innovation, As you may have noticed, due to the pandemic, traditional session media output, such as photos, is no longer as viable as it used to be, and as the times progress, so must we. Our specific idea for this project is to implement interactive projects, enriching the session experience for everyone, rather than the plain old static projects done both at digital and on-site sessions. Finally, talking about the final pillar, reform. We want to change the way the job of a Media Team Member is seen. Since the invention of digital cameras, the role of the MTM has been to take pictures of the session firstly, and everything else second. We want to challenge this. To us, the role of the MTM is so much more, and not just a glorified paparazzi. To us, a Media Team Member is exactly what the name says, somebody who produces media. This does not only have to be photos, but can be any type of media. Videos, articles, interactive projects, no form of media is less worth than any other, and it is our vision to embrace and spread this idea. Thank you for your time and hopefully see you at Lempäälä! Ilma Šahinović and Daniel Buna
Call for Jury Members Dear potential applicant, Hopefully the reason you are reading this is because you are considering applying to Lempäälä 2021 and want to help us make this event a success! When jurying, I believe it’s important to remember the reason we are doing this in the first place. We are selecting delegates who we believe will positively contribute to EYP and who will develop from this opportunity. Thus, it is our responsibility as the jury team to unbiasedly evaluate delegates, and provide them with constructive feedback. It is my view that this cannot be done effectively unless we have this fair and constructive environment within the team too. My vision therefore is for a transparent and approachable jury team, where everyone’s opinions hold equal weight. We all should be comfortable with expressing our opinions and never be afraid of asking questions. There will be no hierarchy, but a focus on presession training and bonding to grow our confidence in our own abilities and in each other. Whilst I aim to create a relaxed and non-stressful atmosphere, we should still always take it seriously. We volunteer because we love EYP, and it is a great privilege and reward to help select and develop the future of our network. Every delegate is important and will be entitled to feedback. If you are eager to grow as a person and help afford this opportunity to others as well, then I will be very excited to read your application! All the best, Jason
