Dear reader, T evaluation of the 74th International Session of the European Youth Parliament in Tbilisi, Georgia. As you can see, the evaluation shows that the event has been a success. However, we invite you all to study the document carefully to identify what we can learn for future sessions. The evaluation is divided into three sections: I.) Evaluation by countries and III.)
Evaluation overview, II.) .
The overview part depicts the evaluation of delegates concerning different aspects of the session. The answers are represented as diagrams and, when thought useful for the purpose of comparison, accompanied by the answers from previous International Sessions. For a better roundup of the evaluation, we included at the end of each aspect the most often stated comments and suggestions. The quotes at the end should give you an overall impression of the
In general, the participants underlined the uniqueness of the experience in Georgia. Intercultural dialogue was a clear highlight of the session, which is reflected for example by the improved [their]
of origin. The diagrams represented in this section are meant to provide each National Committee with an evaluation of their work in support of the IS in Tbilisi. For this purpose, questions regarding the preparation for the session and the future engagement in EYP are included. 142 returned questionnaires. Due to the incomplete amount of returned questionnaires from the delegates and the absence of the nationality information on some filled-in questionnaires, we were not able to provide an evaluation for all countries taking part at the IS in Tbilisi. The teachers expressed much enthusiasm about the educational value of the European Youth thought that their students learnt a lot about intercultural dialogue and democracy.

Maybe the inclusion of a broad tutorial on HOW to research topics as opposed to just providing valuable resources. Ask delegates to not only prepare their own topic, but to choose one other topic and prepare it as well (even though you don't know the resolutions yet, you can still form an opinion on the topic and research relevant information), so that the open debate can be more focused and to the point. Doing everything a bit earlier would have helped me a lot.

If the committees could, sometimes, do games together, it would also increase trust and people [would] know each other between committee. By taking advantage of the location of the session I believe that the teambuilding could have become more interesting i.e. not staying indoors playing the same games that you can play anywhere else in Europe but in fact exploring Georgia and the surroundings as a team.

Comments & Suggestions: - Allocate more time for it! - I feel it might have been almost overly structured. With very definite tasks, free discussion might not have flowed as well as it could. - It worked out fine in the end so guess it was good but at some points I felt like we were moving in circles and not ahead, just wasting time. - Some clauses could hardly be recognized again after they had been typed. I understand that there has to be a certain academic level in the resolution but would prefer it if the changes were made with the committee members and not without them participating. - Ensure that every resolution is checked by a native speaker.

Comments & Suggestions: - The board should be a bit stricter with "only one point per person" and the direct responses but otherwise it was awesome. - One thing I dislike about GAs are the attack speeches. I think that very often are unfounded, and they are written for no real reason, finding excuses to disagree with a resolution. In fact, very often, who attack the resolution of another committee does not even have proper knowledge to judge it. - Tables would have been nice so that we could write more efficiently. - It would be interesting to once organise a session where there a two General Assemblies. The first is just a regular General Assembly but without a voting procedure. The committees than have a day to change/amend/improve their resolution. A new, shorter, GA is held where the new resolutions are presented. Afterwards, the voting procedure will take place.

Comments & Suggestions: - I consider the duration of the session as perfect. I enjoyed all the programs we had but would have liked more time for visiting sights of the country. - Me and my delegation wanted to see more of Georgia. Also, a little bit more free time would have been nice. It was a really busy programme which was nice, but we were very tired and sometimes we just wanted some time off. - I hope in the future all the delegations can stay in the same place because it certainly made GA preparation and free time a lot harder. 6. Send preparation kit and allocation of committees at least 3 weeks in advance to ensure that delegates have time to prepare. I as a teacher remain still a bit vague about what is expected of me in terms of preparation of contents. My delegates did this all by themselves. That they could do it speaks not only for them, but also for the quality of the material provided and of the communication by EYP.

Organizing a session this long and big is no easy task. Everybody knows that. However, in the future, I hope that the organizers of future sessions should learn from the mistakes made at this session. For that to work, organizers must be willing to admit what went wrong, but also to say what worked well. EYP is a great organisation, and the young people who are fortunate enough to have the opportunity to participate in EYP benefit greatly from it in so many different ways. Every year when students graduate, there are a few who approach me and say that participating in EYP was one of the best things they did in high school and that they will remember those experiences for the rest of their lives. Your formula works. Be proud of it. Social media side is good but has more potential.

The encouragement to stay in touch further enriches the 3rd-level educational experience. My delegation contained besides the Swiss two half-Americans and the son of Chinese diplomats. This lead to interesting conversations about the essence of "Europeanness".

I think it is too bad that not all teachers participated in the workshop, but I guess there is not much to do about that. One idea would be to have a workshop about how to do a mini-EYP session in class. In fact, there was such a workshop at a previous session, and I know that several teachers started using the EYP method in class as a result of that workshop, myself included. How about one or two contributions from teachers to the magazine? I felt not very involved with the whole media part of the session.

What did you like the most at this session and what would be your suggestions be for improvements? -
-
Seeing students working so hard and with such enthusiasm was fantastic! Better communication of various organisational dates (departure times etc.) could have been communicated better, e.g. with a notice board at the hotels. The best thing about the session was that the delegates learned a lot about intercultural dialog, European politics, democracy, and to take care of and encourage each other. I liked the local flavour of the session: I will always remember the Georgian dancing. My suggestion for improvement is that organisers could perhaps plan some things in more detail and communicate better with each other. The session was a success, though, because the "EYP method" has proved to work well over and over again. I really liked the General Assembly, the organization was excellent. and I felt that this activity could have been more productive. The cultural events in the teacher's program were fantastic. The best part was encounters: with delegates, officials, organisers, colleagues and local people, from the Taxi driver who is a Roger Federer fan to the professional football player and politics student next to me on the plane to the dealers at the gold market who told me a bit about their lives. An opportunity for most European students to experience a unique culture at the edge southeastern Europe. The enthusiasm of the organisers and pride in their country was most inspiring. In future the teachers' programme could helpfully be issued earlier.
One sentence that best describes the 74th International Session of the European Youth Parliament in Tbilisi: -
Nothing can beat the love and care that delegates showed towards other delegates in various situations. Well done! A wonderful learning and cultural experience for the potential leaders of tomorrow. A powerful and memorable combination having the always special EYP International Session in the very unique Georgian environment.
