President Rennes 2016 – 82 nd International Session of the European Youth Parliament

The 82nd International Session of the EYP will be held in Rennes, France between 14th and 23th July 2016, under the session motto 'Diversity to reinvent ourselves'. The Session President will be required to arrive a few days in advance and work on many aspects of the session, from teambuilding to topics, to be involved in the selection process of the session’s chairs’ team and provide leadership for the whole session and its participants. The Session President will also be involved in the development and preparation of the Chairs’ Academic Training together with the International Office. Participation in the training is compulsory. The CAT will take place in Berlin, either between 5th and 8th or 13th and 15th May. The date will be decided upon together with the selected President. For more information on the session, please, check the official website and the Facebook page.

Message from the National Organising Committee RISE 2016, the 82nd International Session in Rennes, will be one of the flagship events of the International EYP network in 2016. Taking place in a highly cultural, touristic and attractive region of France, this event will surely be remembered by its participants. Brittany is a region strongly characterized by both its culture and identity and actively open to Europe and the world. RISE 2016 is an ambitious project with exclusive innovations to explore. For the first time, an international session will be trilingual, the working languages being English, French and German. Conferences and official ceremonies will be simultaneously translated by a team of trained translators interpretors. Every document produced before, during and after the session will also be avalaible in these three languages. Some committees will be working in French and German. The resolutions will be produced in the respective language of the committee and translated for general assembly. With multilingualism at this event, we hope to bring a new dimension to international sessions and EYP events: linguistic diversity. For its 25th Anniversary in 2012, the EYP declared Outreach and Inclusion as one of its priorities. Inclusion will thus be at the forefront of this session as the event will be open to non-EYPers. We believe opening the summer international sessions can only strengthen the quality of the session and reinforce the common values we hold dear in EYP. The session’s motto is 'Diversity to reinvent ourselves'. We want this event to be an anthem to diversity, in all of its forms. Whether it is cultural, political, artistic, or even historical diversity; the participants of Rennes 2016 will embrace this fundamental component of what makes Europe and what makes the European Youth Parliament today. Innovation will also be tackled through the new aspects experimented at the session but also through the academic work. The ideal President we hope to work with will be fully involved in the making of the success of this event. The President will hold a crucial role in the development of the diversity theme and its surrounding activities. He or she will also be the main actor in the guarantee of the academic quality, knowing that this aspect is one of the organisation team’s priorities. We believe that the ideal President should also be involved in the maturation of the innovative aspects of the session: multilingualism and inclusion. We hope to build together with the selected President a great and innovative session. The Head-organisers of the Session – William Goyet, Sugirthan Sivarajah, Rémi Coinault
