Euro African Youth Parliament The First Euro African Youth Parliament will be held in Berlin, Germany between March 27th and April 4th 2014. The event is organised by both the International Office of the EYP and the Youthbridge Foundation from Accra, Ghana. Over 100 young people from all over Africa and Europe will gather in the capital of Germany to discuss political topics of global relevance and the future of Euro-African relations. The Session President will be required to arrive in Berlin on March 24th in order to be involved in the final preparations and the arrangement of trainings for officials from March 25th onwards. The President will have an active role in the de-
velopment of the Session, including the choice and preparation of topics and methodological aspects. Furthermore, the President will be involved in the selection of the session’s chairs team and to provide leadership for the whole session and its participants. Each committee will consists of an equal number of African and European delegates, and will be led by a tandem of chairs from both continents. This equal parity will also be realised in the media team and the team of organisers, which will be lead by Jonathan Engel (DE) and Maximilian B. Kiehn (DE).
Selection Criteria for the First Euro African Youth Pariament All EYPers who have chaired at an International Sessions are welcome to apply by means of the specific application form that can be found here. The Panel will look for applicants whose application form demonstrates both enthusiasm for the project and the Euro-African approach and a proven record of leadership in EYP. The selection panel will select the best candidate to act as President of the First Euro African Youth Parliament according to the standards and criteria listed below: • Academic ability to engage with a wide variety of current European and Global Issues; Proven interest in issues concerning Africa is a bonus • Extensive relevant EYP experience and a solid understanding of EYP • Willingness and capability to adjust and innovate the established methods and programme elements of EYP events to the specific needs and demands of the event • Excellent planning and organisational skills • Excellent leadership skills • Ability to work as a member of a highly intercultural team • Training experience: ability to plan, run and evaluate training modules, especially with youth leaders from Africa with no previous EYP experience The Panel will consist of a representative of the International Office, one member of the Governing Body and one of the Head-Organisers.
