THE OASIS HOTEL

RESUME

The Kago Apartments

DOWNTOWN APARTMENT COMPLEX KAGOSHIMA, JAPAN

For this project, the goal is to design a multi-family apartment builidng that supports various programs. The program to be included are apartment units, lobby, laundry room and bicycle storage. The site location is in the city of Kagoshima, located at the southern tip of the Kyushu Island in Japan. Starting the conceptual process of my project, I used an AI computer generated image. In finding the image, I used the words: leaf, copper, layers, gold and flowing. After selecting the image that sparked my interest, I focused on the structure and design of the image, and developed my first conceptual model. As I evaluated the model, I started to brain storm on how my idea would work structurally and realistically. After many evolutions of my design, the project resulted in this final design.

JAPAN PROJECT

Kagoshima, Japan, is a follicle point in tourism and trade in Japan. With the site being located directly across from the port, the project was more accessible to stellar views and a surplus of residence.

CONCEPTUAL DESIGNS

Analyzing the structure of the leaf, I identified the key three elements of the leaf. The petiole, midrib, and the venules. In other words; the central stem support, the secondary stems, and the actual “leaf”. In the first concept model, I took those elements and drafted my first interpretation of the leaf from the AI Image. After simplifying the design of the concept model, I had a bases on starting my design.

In the first set of sketches, I experimented how the vertical aspects of the project would look, alongside identifying possible volumes for programming. Moving further along into technical drawings, I solidified my programming, by studying the programs in floorplan, elevation, and section diagrams.

The Oasis Hotel

MIXED USE HOTEL & OFFICE SPACE TALLAHASSEE, FL

For this project, the goal is to design a medium sized hotel and workshare project in Tallahassee, Florida. Located on Monroe Street (just south of the Cascade Park pedestrian bridge), the project will contribute to desirable revitalization efforts for the south side of downtown; and is intended to creatively integrate all the required program elements along with automated parking systems, and an un-maned aircraft vehicle landing pad in an urban setting. The site’s total real estate of square footage is just over 20,000 sq ft. The programs intended for this project was to include entry nodes, reception, workshare functions, hotel functions, and a bar with lounge. Also, incoporated into the project, an automated electric vehicle conveyance and an un-maned aerial vehicle landing pad had to accessible to guests.

Tallahassee, is the capitol of Florida. With the site being near the headquarters of business within the state, and just under a mile away from downtown, this hotel had to have a great blend of residential and office space.

CONCEPTUAL DESIGNS

For the conceptual phase of the project, I was tasked to use AI again, for precendents. From the two images, I constructed a conceptual model study that helped me see how my idea of a “wrapped” facade would work vertically.
