THE VINDS The project starts as an understanding of the primary concepts of the wind. The desig methodology that develops the form, is based on the strategy to understand and interpret the behaviour that the wind takes when making contact with elements. The contact is described graphically through curved lines that have the meaning of the wind and these curved lines transform into the object that generates space. The process is then defined by the form and then putting the function in it. The project then respond to the necessities of the user and is developed by the graphic information given. This mixed use project unifies a mall, a cultural center, offices and housing units. The project generates its own shadow and adapts into the final form of the building.

DESIGN METHODOLOGY The design methodology is based primarly on the consistency of the design factors that allow the manipulation of a determined form. The project is developed through a series of experimental diagrams considering the wind graphic interpretation and the manipulation of this methodology to produce a form.
1. Everything starts with the site and a proposed form according to site regulations, which determine a starting platonic shape.
2. This platonic shape then transforms into a shape that it is affected by the surroundings and specially the wind. The wind is interpreted as curves.
3. The wind can be interpreted as main projections which impact the shape, and create in the darker spots the highest frecuency of wind flow.
4. By interpreting the projections, voids between the different facades interact and intersect the platonic form.
5. These voids then are sintetized into curved lines that reduce the complexity of the form
6. TThese voids again interact and conect wit the different facades in order to let the wind flow through the project to create a different experience.
10
7. The voids then intersect with the platonic form and these are conected creating holes inside the generated form.
8. TThe form then its manipulated in order to give the wind a different direction and modify the direct surrounding of the project.
9. This manipulation then is considered into two other voids that allow more air flow and a more complex form.
10. All of the voids, from the dominant wind flows fro the south east, and the manipulated ones converge and intersect with the platonic form.
11. TIn order to create the spatial parameter, the project is cutted in a five meter order to create different floors.
12. Then tby emerging the voids and the spatial parameters that create the final form of the building.
11
PROGRAM The program is defined by the public and private spaces, the more private, the more higher place it wll take to be in the project. The density of the project focuses on putting together different activities in a same building, having four buildings in one.

STRUCTURE AND OPERATION The structure concentrates onf the main cores of the building that allow the operation of mechanical elements. One importan condition is that the building lets a few parts to hang and to act in cantilever, having modular segments with columns in order to sustain the forces.
The circulations take place in the buildin by putting all together the mechanical and electrical elements in to the main cores. These cores (green) allow the operation of the building but also act as a structural reinforcement and columns.

CITIZEN PARK The citizen park arises as a struggle for the rights that we have as a community, which is why the project gives rise to activities that promote democracy, coexistence, the free expression of ideas and that also fulfil the function of providing a green area with spaces for rest, relaxation and connection with nature. On the other hand, the park is an accessible and inclusive place, respecting its uses, customs and current flora, also serving as a mean of connection that facilitates access and pedestrian flows.

WIND PAVILION The project is located over the metro station in Monterrey, where it becomes an alternative to public space in the city of Monterrey. Since the city lacks in public spaces and cultural areas, the aim of the project is to generate a space inside the city and to develop it through a design methodology based on the wind. The interpretation of the wind, which are curved lines, penetrate through the metro station structure creating a high pressure wind in the street. Considering this the project reveals as an experiment on how we can improve citties through new developments of urbanism. This parasite is attached into a strcuture that has only one function, but the aim of project is to reveal

43
DESIGN METHODOLOGY the design mthodology is based on the wind flows. By interpreting data from the program flow design, the wind crosses thorugh the metro line and creates a strong current of wind. This wind defines the form generation process.
1.The site reveals the metro station, and the low density buildings in its surroundings.
2. This wind is then considered as the blue lines, The representation of the continuity and the effect of the current of the wind is constant.
3. The wind flows are selected from the diagram in order to determine the character of the form of the project.
4. The form of the project appears as a conection of these sected lines or wind flows. These lines conect with each other and create a solid forn.
5. The form of the building is tested witha parameter in order to produce and to create a structural system to hang the “parasite from the metro line.
44
6. The building then adapts to the metro station and embraces the whole area, giving a sense of conection.and creating the final form of the project.
MODULAR SECTION The modular section bases its potential on a steel structure in order to maintain the project in its place. If giving a section, these “rings would appear to understand fabrication of the project.

PAPE BIRD OBSERVATION TOWER Pape nature park is a place of reunion and communion between humans and nature. The bird observation tower becomes part of the representation of the reunion of humans, birds and animals. The tower stands as a platform that allows people to interact with the migrating birds . Pape park history is full with achievements that regenerated natural life cycle from the site, that previously was driven out from agriculture. The aim of the project is to respond to site conditions, animal species, and a low cost- energy efficient constructive process that doesn’t interrupt Pape’s natural wildlife . The tower stands as a light structure that can be lost in the lanscape, allowing animals, birds and humans to use it and interact with it. The tower intervention complements the value of Pape Park by allowing human - animals species’ interactions and honoring wildlife. The tower becomes the home of the park where life is appreciated.

CONCEPT DESIGN
The platforms were designed in a radial disposition, situating circulations in the center. Allowing people to have a total 360 experience.
66
The heights of the platforms where designed in order for people to reach the best views possible with the allowed 11m. height. Creating a 360 platform
The modular structure allows permeability to integrate the tower with the wild life. The tower’s materiality allows also to use less materials, being an environmental friendly construction.
The bridge instead of being linear, it’s breaked in order to create different view angles, that allow the user to experience the landscape and the tower in a different way.
PROJECT FUNDAMENTALS
Enviroment The project responds to the site considering the lowest
quantity
of
materials possible and their easy transportation to the Pape nature park. The building responds to the enviroment loosing itself in the landscape, being useful and permeable for animals to cross through it and stand in it, as a medium for users to connect them with the species

Climate conditions Due to the humid or wet climate, the project is developed understanding that water should go away easily during raining. Each floor has stainless steel grating that allows permeability and prevents that the materials absorve water. This material and special material treatments will allow the tower to last longer.
Tower’s Life Cycle Wood: Valrosa Coating Ignifire treatment. Allows to prevent the wood from fires and gives it a water proof coating. Concrete: Long term water proof coating. Steel: Anticorrosive treatment for durability and to prevent oxidation
Materials Reinforced Concrete is used in the foundations of the tower and in the pillars. Stainless Steel is used in the membrane conections from the exterior structure and in the stairs allowing the structure to be light. Wood is used in the slabs and in the exterior angular elements allowing a light structure able to deal with tension forces due to the movement.
Susteinability The project was developed using a small amount of materials and elements, creating an interior space with light materials and an easy constructive process based on creating prefabricated steel and wood pieces. Having the less amount of materials and also using prefabricated elements decreases the effort to take materials to site and time for the construction.

CONSTRUCTION PROCESS Almost all of the constructive elements where modulated, so that the construction process became way much easier, faster and with the less amount of waste. The constructive process starts with the foundation, which consists on eight reinforced concrete piles which reach firm earth and a reinforced concrete slab. Steel connections that connect the building with the concrete slab are also soaked in concrete and welded to the foundation steel. The tower exoskeleton is constructed following the same steps in every level (placement of the wood lumbers followed by the placement of the steel connections), and finally in each level the slab is supported in the steel connections of the exoskeleton. At the end the bridge is constructed by placing first the main wood structure and finally adding the wood planks that conform the platform and stairs.
