Mahal Tarlabaşı, Tactical urbanism in a segregated neighbourhood mahal TARLABAŞI is an İstanbul based project which aims to prevent the social segregation of the Tarlabaşı neighbourhood and the stigmas for it, by increasing the attraction and the activities in the area and being a place for the public. The area is mostly residential, mixed-use areas with shops on the ground floor, hosting low-income population, mostly migrants. Inferences of analysis shows that local people need more qualified and safe spaces for gathering, for their children and their social lives. The approach for the project is to provide a livable space by place making to improve livability. The implementation process; surface making by using colors, lighting the area and using low cost materials easily found in the streets to use as urban furniture will be held mostly by the locals, also to involve them in the process and increase the participation with a sense of belonging. In the long term; the idea of a “not safe place” will be changed into a place made by the neighbourhood, for kids to play and the possible events taking place here will create an opportunity for people to meet others rather than neighbourhoods.

Falez Yeniden, The symbiotic relation between nature and architecture FALEZ: Means “cliff” in turkish, it is the original morphology behind the Salacak seashore, today there is a car road between cliffs and the sea. Falez Yeniden, is first prize awarded project , of Salacak Urban Design competition opened by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. Design area is one of the most important historic coast; in front Maiden’s Tower in Üsküdar district. Üsküdar is not only the anthropogenic history in its recent past, but also the coast that exists in its geography. It is the silent witness of all times with its cliff morphology behind it. The seasons change, the colors change, the time changes, the testimony remains. “

HAREM SANAT Considering the fact that the Harem bus station has completed its economic life in time, the qualified city area occupied on the coast and the cliffs following the silhouette are considered together, the city park and art structures located in the park are proposed in this area. The continuity of green areas of the cliffs will continue as an urban park, and a qualified social and recreational area will be created on the shores of Kadıköy and Üsküdar.

Alight Stop, From Infrastructure to an Artificial Island for Birds Inhabitant Istanbul is an important area for lots of bird species. Especially some species which are in danger of extinction and migratory, goes by Bosphorus. Unfortunately there are lots of architectural projects will be built in İstanbul’s future. Since that; every possible secluded areas are being a possible new home to these species. Today; on a tour by a steamer it can be seen there are lots of birds are living on the Haydarpaşa Breakwater which is not connected to coast. For people on this sea tour feeding the birds with simit (turkish bagel), the area is safe for the bird, so it is a new home for some species. They are habitating on a breakwater. On the site visit it is detected; there are lots of cormorant eggs and baby cormorants .Which the nests are done by cables or other garbage. This project aims to create an awareness by a light installation which will rehabilitate that infrastructure as an artificial island and helps birds life circle.

In the Bird Species list on left are known living in Istanbul; signed birds have been seen on the breakwater while the site visit.
Design Process: The project has been designed as a futurescape project, will change in time , in 3 steps:
“Beyond the concentration on near detail, the fundamental sensation of the road continuously referred to, is the visual sense of the motion and space. This includes the sense of motion of self the apparent motion of surrounding objects and the shape of the space being moved through. These factors are all interwined, since the visual judgement of motion is based on the apparent motion of exterior objects and is interpreted as being motion in relation to the enclosing spatial form.” (Navigator)

Meles Stream is a tiny water way travels all around the City of Izmir. Unfortunately today stream is in bad conditions in some parts are covered with concrete and also climate change is not helping the situation. Although the delta is still a great habitat area to the different species and being an important lab to discover local animals. Since İzmir is being an important historical city, with different archeological places around it, the stream is also an important socio-ecological data for the citizens. Meles Akademi Project aims to create a continous axe with the stream, starting from the smallest element of the family, the kid as a seed. The spaces for to help kids grow up and learn by experiencing named seeds, and the places which they can transform their experience into a production, called; generator and the designed spaces which in these grown up kids can realize their production nearby the port area; called; fab. To sum up, this project creates a space for the future kids, which they will grow up and evolve by and with Meles Stream.

Pandemic Architecture International Design Competition Featured in Top 50 out of more than 440 Projects around the world
Design: Ezgi Umut Türkoğlu & Duygu Saygı Year: 2020 Type: Competition Project Location: Multiple Places Where: Archisearch International Competition Covid 19 Pandemic Architecture: In the Corona Virus Pandemics period, several types of temporary architecture needs were occured. As since the hospitals could not answer the numbers of the affected people, Intensive Care Units were not enough. In addition to this; medics had lots of difficulties in terms of accomodating, finding isolated rooms. Their doubts about caring protecting their family created a need as short term accomodations for them. The aim of this project is to make easily constructable, packable architecture units to answer these needs. Since the pandemic is a short term process, these healthcare units are designed as removable and reusable in terms of emergencies. And since it is not possible to estimate the numbers of patients these modules are thought as extendable. 2 types of modules designed as; Intensive care units and accomodation units. Material types air conditioning systems has been studied with mechanical engineers and medical needs has been studied by making interviews with medics in İstanbul in April- May 2020 .
