First Global + The Collection Moda In its second year, The Collection Moda was even bigger and better than before. Branded as “1 weekend, 2 days of shopping, 3 fashionable events” the fashion extravaganza was one to write home about. From July 10-12, the city of Kingston was ruled by those with a passion for fashion and First Global Bank is looking to help kickstart Jamaica’s next top fashionista. First Global wants to help take the fashion business to another level and is offering a $100,000 grant to the winner of their competition. To enter the competition, entrants are required to submit a 500 word essay outlining their business plan and talking about what stage they’re currently at with their fashion business, where they would like to see it go and how they will use the money to take the business further. Along with the essay, three sketches of their designs are required to showcase their talent and creativity.

The entries will be reviewed by a panel of fashion experts and from the results, one winner will be selected for the $100,000 grant. First Global is always looking to help businesses succeed and the partnership with The Collection Moda is just one of the ways they’re making their contribution. The deadline for submission of entries is July 25 and the winner will be announced prior to the showcase and will be presented with their award at the event. The Collection Moda events began with The Business of Fashion Workshop, this was endorsed by JAMPRO and featured industry heavyweights discussing the fashion business. This event sought to support emerging fashion professionals and help them turn their passion into a living. The invitation only Fashion Showcase that was scheduled for July 11, has been postponed due to Tropical Storm Chantal and will now be held in August.
