As a wealth advisor at Ideal Finance Corporation, Orick Angus knows a thing or two about the best ways to handle your money. When he found himself having to deal with too many challenges with his own credit card service at another financial institution, he began looking elsewhere for a card that better suited his needs. A friend at Sagicor Bank recommended the Sagicor Bank MasterCard Standard credit card, and he has been a happy customer since signing up five months ago. He was so pleased with the service that he opened a savings account last month. “To be honest, Sagicor Bank is more convenient. They even have a drive-through service, so I don’t have to go into the bank to make payments, which is good for me,” he said. To manage his account even better, Angus has also signed up for e-Bank so he is able to keep track of his monthly statement and make payments on time. He uses his Sagicor Bank MasterCard to make purchases at local businesses and also online. He also hasn’t yet taken advantage of his Sagicor Bank MasterCard Standard rewards, which include local excursions, cash back, hotel accommodation, investment options and gift cards. However, every time he spends, he earns reward points that he can redeem in the future. My payment date is not tied into the monthend period, it’s the middle of the month, so I get some time to settle other bills, so that’s a plus right there. PROTECTING YOUR GOOD CREDIT RATING
Having a good credit status matters, especially now, with 2 credit bureaus in Jamaica. A good payment history at your bank, utility companies and other lenders helps you to better access further lending at competitive rates. In most instances your bank will check your credit history, and missing two or more payments can negatively impact your credit report.
