f you’re staying in town but tired of seeing the same old things every weekend, check out the Kingston City Explorer Shuttle by Jamaica Cultural Enterprises. Both local and tourist friendly, these tours show you a more authentic side of Jamaica’s cultural capital. Beginning in New Kingston, the tours take you all over town, including less-traversed areas like Trench Town and Downtown Kingston. While the stops are predetermined, tours can be customised to suit a particular focus, for example music, art, religion or history. Tour guides accompany your journey and will provide you with detailed historical information that gives you a context to each site. For instance, at the National Heroes Park, the information from the tour guide provides you with the story of the heroes, as well as a look at the modern culture. Running on Thursdays and Sundays from 2pm – 5:30pm, these tours cost only US$45. For reservations, call 876540-8570 or email info@jaculture.com.

This Saturday, August 18, Ultra will celebrate its oneyear anniversary at the Fiction Nightclub, which is its new home, having been re-launched at this venue on June 2. Saturday’s party will feature several attractions to reward the thousands of patrons who have supported Ultra over

Jason Worton, Musician
Jason Worton, Musician What would be your ideal weekend? My ideal weekend is to repeat some variation of my best weekend, which isn’t too hard. Maybe I just like a simple life; good people, good music and good vibes is all I need. I live in the hills and I go to the beach or river a lot. Its nice to travel too and go experience different places. What is your must see/must do/ must eat on the weekends? On the weekend there’s always so much going on. I just love to see any part of Jamaica. I love getting away from the city, but I still love Kingston too. I don’t go to nightclubs as much anymore, but I still enjoy them. I love to go to a nice restaurant like Whitebones or just go take in whichever concert is going on. But if its one thing I have to do or taste, it’s the ocean.
#mywknd What is your weekend drink of choice? Nowadays, my drink of choice is Red Stripe. Sometimes in the night I like a little rum. Whatever it is, I like to drink locally brewed stuff. Its world-ranked and I always support brand Jamaica. What has been your best weekend to date? My best weekend was probably when I had a show at Redbones with my band StoneDub on the Friday night, then enjoy great waves all weeka jam session with a rotating set of musicians the Saturday night until dawn, which is a typical night at Jamnesia. Then on Sunday just cooling down on the beach with a beer and somebody special What do you enjoy doing in your spare time? I like gardening. I have a few vegetable beds I keep and I’m getting into orchids nowadays, plus a little reading or yoga. My work as a musician gives me all the excitement I usually need. I don’t cook too often anymore, but I like good food and I’m not scared of the kitchen.
