Envision opportunity.

There is nothing like immersing yourself in another culture to enhance your vision of the world and influence your creativity. At Illinois, you will have expansive opportunities to do just that. From small, faculty-led programs to premier international centers of study, you will have a variety of choices to match your interests. In addition to the international exposure, you will be able to gain practical experience through local and regional internships in a variety of disciplines, including arts administration, studio and art instruction, photography and videography, animation, website design, and print and environmental graphics. These opportunities beyond the classroom inspire your artistry and open doors to your future.

‘“When I studied abroad . . .’ is how you’ll start every sentence when you return. And it will be that way for a while. That’s how memorable [the experience] is.”

Express yourself.

OUR PROGRAM PROVIDES YOU WITH EXPANSIVE COLLABORATION OPPORTUNITIES.

You have your own creative vision, and our program nurtures it. Our curriculum offers professional training for the self-sustaining artist/designer. It also prepares you to pursue an advanced degree in the arts. Plus, our curriculum is carefully designed to ensure you get plenty of exposure to the spectrum of opportunities across the School of Art + Design. On any given day, you’ll find studio artists working in design courses, designers collaborating with writers, or painters making movies. You’ll also discover the benefits of our close relationship with our six academic partners in the College of Fine + Applied Arts: • School of Architecture • School of Music • Department of Dance • Department of Landscape Architecture • Department of Theatre • Department of Urban + Regional Planning We encourage you to enroll in courses offered through these units and to engage in independent collaborations with the artists who study and teach in them. In addition, units across the College of Fine + Applied Arts often team up to bring visitors to campus, to host colloquia, and to sponsor multidisciplinary projects—all of which contribute another dimension to your educational experience.
