URBAN PARK SYSTEM Landscape development proposal for Palika Greens, New Delhi The Planning Structure of Connaught place defines Palika bazar as its Node. Recent developments in CP, defines the possibility of integration of central park and Palika Bazar park. Issue no.1: All the three parcels of open spaces are discrete and are divided by roads. City context reveals that Palika bazar lies on the axis terminating at two major features of the city of two different era.- The Parliament & Jama Masjid. Issue no.2: At present the Axis is notional and there is no visual connection to either of the features. Existing Landscape has neither any identity nor functional use that can engage a visitor. Divided into two parcels and inaccessibility has led this prime urban node be disused. Issue no.3: Two parcels of Palika bazar rooftop is disused and inaccessible.

URBAN PARK SYSTEM Landscape development proposal for Aastha Kunj, New Delhi AASTHA KUNJ is a massive spiritual complex in the heart of Nehru place. Its located just adjacent to the Nehru Place Metro Station. Initially known as Nehru place district park , it is located in South Delhi developed by Delhi Development Authority in 2002. Aastha kunj ‘A Spiritual garden ‘ is housed within three temples of tourist significance-ISKON Temple, Lotus temple and Shiv Mandir . It lies in vicinity of the Violet LIne of Delhi Metro. This Line is also called the “Heritage Line” because it connects the important Heritage places of the City.

“A rejuvenated landscape, a heaven from the monotony of existence, a refuge of unwind, a gateway to meditate, a place to reflect, Aastha Kunj is the new age spiritual garden.” ISSUES The Park lacks designed spaces for users. There are many areas in park which are totally derelict and are hence unsafe . There is no concept of Eyes on street too. The park needs to be developed in layers with more and more variation in spaces. Also, importance should be given to the temples present in the near vicinity since they are of very high architectural significance.
