Why photography? For me it's the ultimate form of art, it's like a time machine that allows you to capture souls in their true form, it's also like a door to a new imaginary world and it's also like a studio where creation happens, dreams shape up and beauty in all its forms is portrayed. I always see myself as a professional soul-catcher.

Mark Hamilton Gruchy photographer PS 21 Are we playing a game or are we living in the game? The subjects of the photographs are trapped in a virtual world, a game that is so realistic and compelling they have not felt able to leave. These photographs are elaborate, post-modern photomontages made using 3D software and ‘real’ photography. This duality questions the innate certainty of photography The visual aesthetic of contemporary films, photographs and games is dependent on this new version of reality. I want to explore the confused relationships between these forms.

What are you up to at the moment? Right now ? just finished drawing actually... Im spending a lot of my time working on my art at the moment, I have a website and Facebook page called Life In Lead ‌ of my energy into making Life In Lead Check it out ‌please ... go on. more than just a Facebook page to "like", I would love it to become more of a Its basically just an outlet for me to share longterm venture and something for me to all my artwork and connect with anyone supplement my income, where I can take who cares really. Ive had time between commissions for portraits and design work jobs over the last few months, which ive as well collaborating on art projects and tried to use constructively and put a lot exhibit my own work.

Who
inspires you?
Who inspires me? ‌ well, in East London for a few years and artistically Ive always been a fan of theres a massive amount of street street art really, I lived and worked art constantly changing from week to week there ... some good some not so good, but in particular I was always keeping an eye out for new pieces by David Walker, he uses spray paint beautifully and creates loads of really great large scale and multicoloured female portraits. A lot of my art is based around female portraits so I guess its kind or a reflection of his style, recently my brother introduced me to an artist called Carne Griffiths who again has a similar sort of style but works on canvas and paper as apposed to walls! ..but I can assure you equally amazing! What are your plans for the future? Again id like to progress with Life In Lead in the future and make it something I can spend a lot of my time on as I do love drawing and meeting new people‌ but Ive learnt its impossible to plan your

future, so I have a general outline, just see where it takes me.
Where
is your ENERGY coming from?
At least two sugars in my coffee Would you consider yourself as each morning and the thought of a perfectionist? one day being able to afford to live in the sunshine somewhere! Well I don't mind taking shortcuts actually but Im sure if you asked On a morbid note - I also love my parents the same question the idea something Ive created they'd say yes ... theres been out living me, to leave something a few occasions where they'd behind, that people can enjoy i compliment something ive done guess.. or burn to keep warm. and I just say they're wrong and its not right, but I just always have a picture in my head of what something should look like and if it dosent turn out the same as it does in my head it dosent leave the sketchbook. My sketchbook is a warren of drawings that never made the grade!

MYKAL WRYTE
“my name is Michael Wright but I like to spell it in a way which is more visually interesting. In every language a name is spelt different, as I am English and my name is quite common, I liked the idea of keeping my name but changing it to look more individual as well as looking eastern European. It became Mykal Wryte
Where is your ENERGY coming from? I have the biggest passion and addiction to doing anything creative, If I spend a day or a few days doing nothing creative I get a bit crazy and itchy? This is a weird way to explain it, I guess it’s my dark passenger trying to get out onto paper or canvas. What do you like to draw the most? I like to draw people the most but there isn’t to much behind just drawing/ painting a person unless it’s just a portrait and thats all it’s meant to be. I like the draw things that are really important like Feminism (which is what a recent piece has been about ‘ female thoughts’) or having to put in the emotion, the persons life or adding symbols that mean things to make it more mysterious and I really like finding a contradiction to something important usually that is in religion or myths.
Who are your personal influences ? I have many influences in my life from people in music – Lou Reed, Jim Morrison, Iggy Pop as I have listened to some of them since I was around 10 years old. The first person to really interest me in art was Roy Lichtenstein in year 7 of art class when I saw his ‘Whaam
1963’ which is the airplane with the explosion painting, so from seeing that and it being called art it got me really interested. A huge influence come from seeing something on the street from animals, street art, architecture, a movement from a interesting person, a beautiful person in the street or club and any interesting artist.
And when your visions come, do you write them down? I like to write down stuff in my notes in my phone or write them all along my arm so I can transfer them into a sketchbook so they will be there forever and always go back to them years later and maybe find something I can use.
What do you love? Learning everything I didn’t get to learn in the terrible education of England. Traveling ( mostly to Paris) meeting new interesting/ creative people, anything creative. What you hate? I hate everything from bad fashion to new music. What I hate the most is closed minded people who have old ideas of sexuality, race, culture and even food, not to sound to angry... What are you up to at the moment? Spending my days working on many different canvas, all different pieces and loads of new drawings, I never have enough time to get things I want done in the same day, days should be longer! And paying bills which I am in a huge limbo with. Would you consider yourself as a perfectionist? I am quite a perfectionist, if it doesn’t feel correct in my head I will have to change it eventually, if I don’t change it I will keep thinking about it on and on, it’s like an annoyance until it’s perfect. do you have a sketchbook ? I have many sketchbooks but I don’t draw to often anymore. I have many pieces of paper which have scribbles on, I tend to go from a tiny sketch for a layout then straight onto canvas or on paper as a final image. I’d rather spend more time on finals than spending all the time in a sketch but planning work is the most important. what do you do to not let your thoughts/ideas run away? Any big idea in my head I have to draw down or paint it just to get it out of my head to move on even if it’s bad I still have to paint it down, eventually I will probably paint over it or at least save a photo for reference.
If you had to pick only one from all your work, which one would be your favorite one?? I couldn’t pick a favorite one I have favorite parts of each painting which I like more than maybe the whole thing, like the way a line is or the way I did an eye, stuff like that. Some of these new drawings are becoming well liked ones though. How do you plan your perfect drawing? Or do you plan it at all? Or do you go with a flow…? Depends on what I am doing but mostly I plan everything about my ideas and what each thing means to one another, like what will this line mean to this line or what will this object mean to that object. while I am doing it things will always change so it’s a bit of a flow also. What are your ambitions for the future? I would like to work in a design studio, Gallery doing the change over for the exhibitions or become more of a freelance varied artist, but as long as the job situation is as it is we will see I will have become a builder or cleaner otherwise.
Being an ‘emerging artist’, I work a terrible job to earn and pay taxes! But my passion lies in my spare time, I spend it painting landscapes, people and unusual ideas all in oil paint, recently i’ve started to illustrate a3 drawings in pen and ink again. How do you find your clients, promote yourself and how do you find time for doing all of these? I have just pushed myself to make my art side apart of the social media circle like Facebook and Tumblr from these I have had lots of people liking my work and have had a few extra pieces to do for clients which is an amazing start, looking to put more stuff up in my city in the bars maybe try some
galleries but we will see. I find myself quite a well time keeper I plan what I will do over the day and work down the list but I tend to put my personal work to the side and work on stuff for my clients as that is more important for actual living in this money loving world. I work on stuff when I wake up before my actual work and when I come home in the evening so I pick at pieces to make them progress.

Park has a community secret: a free book shop. That is, a shop full of books, but in which all of them are free! Many stringent faces stride past its decorative window, only to slow their pace on account of the words ‘free’ and ‘books’ in combination. The sceptics walk on by. Some curious folk venture inside tentatively, ask the question: so, er, how does this work? Most, however, have grown to love the shop as they would a new born baby. The reason is exactly because this is a place where your income matters not a driblet. Billionaire or down-andout, Books For Free NW5 serves to provide, please and educate.
Aside from graciously accepted donations plopped into a little white and green box, money dares not exist inside this little haven of delights. Leave your pennies at home! Bring only your good self and a nose for browsing. Enough shameless advertising. A few months ago I spent some time in Nicaragua teaching English at schools in poor areas of Granada. I did this through the NGO ‘La Esperanza Granada’, a Nicaraguan grassroots non-profit organisation that works alongside local schools to help replenish supplies, pay teachers’ salaries and ultimately provide education and healthcare to children and families who otherwise cannot afford it. Realising that the Tufnell Park book shop offers a perfect space

It was everything I had hoped it would be. Highlights of the evening included some badass poetry (I jest) by myself, influenced by the Beats (and appropriated for my own ridiculous self-indulgent usage) and a cynical outlook on life in London through the eyes of unemployment and more, followed by a hilarious spoken word set by Andy Cook and a ukulele (in his own words: because he's shit at guitar and can't sing), which had the audience in fits of laughter over a blender using online dating websites. We also had some fabulous folk music from Xaxa and Toby who roused the crowd with sweet melodies and Strongbow induced heckling. Local poet Joe Pelham Sanchez chronicled his 5-paged madness and fellow volunteer Chris Yeoh rounded off the night with his voice and guitar.
for community events, I decided to hold an unimaginatively named ‘Open Arts’ night on the evening of Thursday 16th May in aid of La Esperanza Granada. The idea was to allow people from the community to show off their talents or lack-of – it didn’t really matter. We run busy lives, a lot of which is consumed by necessity and obligation, but everyone has an imaginative outlet. I wanted this event to play host to that . On the bill we had poets, spoken-word artists, musicians and artists displaying their photography, paintings and film. We even had a few educational talks: Maria Chambers spoke on her experience of spending two years in Havana studying Cuban culture and Spanish, and Poppy Burr, a student at the University of Middlesex, came by to discuss her research on herbal contraception. In true old-fashioned community spirit, contributors were accrued through friends of friends, word of mouth and people who naturally dropped into the bookshop and laid themselves open to a torrent of verbal promotion. With furniture moved to one side and ‘speaker’s corner’ set up with a microphone in front of a backdrop of colourful posters (even a Van Gogh), the evening evoked an atmosphere heavy with the smoke of Chill.
The feedback I received made me so proud. It was an exciting occasion for those looking for something free and interesting to do on a Thursday night. One person told me how it had awakened feelings of ‘anarchic positivity’, ‘peace and love’ and ‘slightly drunken euphoria’ that he hadn’t felt in a long time. For a low-key event in a book shop, I was mighty pleased about this. And we raised £200.

This project was inspired by natural elements, the energies and influences they represent both in nature world as well as in our lives.

From ancient Greece to modern occult, the primary elements have been associated with Gods, Titans and mythical creatures. From Gaia, the ancient representation of Earth and mother of the first Titans, through Oceanus, the Titan Father of Waters and the Sea; Prometheus who brought fire to the humanity, Mercury who was associated with wind to Celtic Brigid - the goddesses of the Fire and Pele.

Generations of people have been inspired by the natural forces of the world and, based on their attributes, assigned to them characteristics and functions that are supposed to influence both our psyche and the internal flow of energy.

In my life I am always trying to understand what the ubiquitous is which captures the hippies so much; the celebrators of freedom? What does it mean to be free, inside and outside; to trample stereotypes and take distance from disinformation, free search for self and create their own identity. A free man no one can manipulate as he chooses where to step. We all want to be free, and the art serves as a tool of liberation, as if abutment in this complex world. Probably, the most important advantage of the artist's life is freedom. Art reminds people that we have infinite personalities. Artists work away from consumerist life, tell us about human complexity and promote self-knowledge. As a human being, I am a complex person. I am the product of many million of years of evolution, with an immensely complex genetic code and billion of brain cells in my head. I am also the product of many years of development, with a personal history. So, for me it is very interesting to look at human from art perspective. These factors have led me to take interest in the arts. My greatest passion is art. Only interest in art helps me to answer many existential questions and issues of freedom. Art has become an integral expression. Attracted to the fact that life is to be an observer extracting everything from the environment, it is where work arises. All information collected is worthless spam if you are unable to use it. Knowledge is required in order for us to use it and thus survive.

Wind - up toy car allegory It would seem almost everythIng that could have been saId about lIfe In the modern world has been saId – It has Its many pros and also as many cons
It would seem almost everything that could have been said about life in the modern world has been said – it has its many pros and also as many cons. life is fast and you have to think on your feet if you want to stay in the game, especially in the world of art. add to that the social networking, now almost inseparable when it comes to promoting your work as an up and coming artist and you will soon realise that you could use another few hours in a day to tackle all this and maybe get a few hours of sleep in. regardless of what anyone says – even if you have fun in the midst of this madness, you still get to a point when you simply need to recharge your batteries and “get a break”. so, how do I recharge? I used to think that by not doing anything I would rest and relax, but I soon realised that, unless I was physically worn out, this was just an excuse to procrastinate and get away
from the fact that I was majorly uninspired. No amount of sleep and “chilling” in from of the TV or a good book seemed to return my creative muses to me. Not until the Spring brought the Sun back. It was around February that I have finally followed up on one of my old quirks. I have started going to open pagan meetings and, as quirky and different it might sound, it was actually the main thing that brought my creativity back, with a passion! I am not talking about meetings in a darkly lit, smoky room with teenagers sitting around with candles and black make up getting out their voodoo dolls to curse their boyfriends or a guy who’s been mean to them, the way “The Craft” has portrayed it; I am talking about adults of all ages discussing, enjoying and embracing this old but new, open-minded belief system. To give you an example, imagine May Pole Dancing and Fire Leaping in a room at Treadwell’s bookstore, in the heart of central London! Crazy, huh? It would seem so, but you would have to experience the simple joy of laughing, singing and dancing, weaving the ribbons around the May Pole. Why? Because the Sun is finally back! And who wouldn’t be happy about that? The Sun brings the much missed vitamin D that makes us that much more positive and happy (seriously, you can look it up, this is not mumbo-jumbo). Besides, everything seems better when it’s warm and sunny outside, don’t you agree? You do, I know you do.

Can you tell us about you Then I completed a 2 and your nutrition career? years master’s of biology My career started when I enrolled on the Nutrition bachelor degree course at the University of Camerino (Italy), during which I studied Shiatsu at Shibumi Shiatsu School (San Benedetto del Tronto Italy) After graduating in 2007, I started working at San Benedetto del Tronto Hospital as a Nutritionist.
in Molecular and Cellular Biology at the same university, during which I spent a 6 months work placement at the Department of Biochemistry, King’s College London, where I studied Cancer. I just started studying to be a qualified Personal Trainer.
What are you up to at the moment? At the moment I am selfemployed working as a freelance nutritionist and massage therapist.
Where did your interest in nutrition and fitness come from? From an early age I have always been sporty and working out at the gym was a regular feature of my weekly activity. My first memory of fitness was joining my dad
on his weekend cycling at the age of 10. When I was a toddler I would passionately watch some sport on TV such as volleyball, boxing and swimming. Then when I was 15 years old I became to be very interested in a healthy diet, because “we are what we eat and if we really want to have an amazing life full of energy, we have to eat properly and healthy.

I worked directly with clients helping them transform their physique through proper nutrition and as a fitness/ sport model. I am constantly looking to increase my knowledge so I believe I can offer my clients the best advice. I have always been interested in sport, fitness and healthy living so it seemed natural that I would try and forge a career doing something I love.
work to my nice house.
What is your diet like?
My diet consists mainly oats, grain, brown rice, fresh fruit and lots of vegetables, beans and pulses, chicken, turkey, beef and fresh oily fish especially salmon and mackerel. Sometime I have my “bad” food weakness. I’m a human so sometimes I put
Who inspires you?
My Mum and Dad. When I was very young they would buy me healthy and organic food. I used to live in an Italian farm, near the sea, so every day my mum would use fresh organic vegetable and fruits and fish from my Adriatic Sea. The taste was just amazing!
Can you give us an example of your typical work day?
Every morning I wake up with a lot of energy and I’m ready to hit the gym. Normally I would go there 4 times a week before work. I have hard weights and core stability work-out. And during my days off, I walk a lot. Sometime I can walk for 6 Miles (9.7 km) from where I
my hands on some “bad” food Carrot cake and brownie are my downfall, but life would be so dull without them :)
Where is your ENERGY coming from????
coming from caffeine. When you eat the right food, you can get the right “fuel” to charge your “batteries”. Just follow my diet and you can also get this amazing green fuel.
What do you like and dislike about your work?
The best thing about my work is making my customer happy with the advice I have given and when they come back again and thank me for all my help. I love having a chat and meeting new people, so this is perfect! I enjoy the variety and the new challenges. My career has been amazingly varied, has given me so many opportunities to learn. I dislike customers who do not say ‘hi’ or ‘goodbye. These are simple polite manners which seem to be ever decreasing in this new society.
What are your plans for the future?
Well, I have many plans for my future. But I want to share only one with you. I’d love to have my own clinic in the UK and one, why not? in Italy too! :)
That’s so true that I have a lot of energy. My answer is very easy and simple - it’s coming Thank you, Daniel! from my healthy diet. I don’t drink coffee, so it’s not E.Michalska

*Who are you and what do you do? I'm Marco Emke, 19 years old, born in Germany but now living in London. I'm currently a ballet/contemporary dance student at Rambert in Richmond. *What do you love? and what you hate? I love being so independent, living in such a big city I'm able to do and be whoever I want to be which I find great. I also love all the opportunities that London has to offer. I hate not being able to see my family as often as I would like, and I also hate anyone who isn't very open minded to my tastes and views. *What are you up to at the moment? At the moment I'm in my first year studying ballet and contemporary dance at Rambert, working hard at what I love to do. *Are you a perfectionist? Definitely. I always want to be the best at most things I do and personally I feel if I don't do something perfectly then there is no point in doing it at all. I guess you can also find perfection in imperfection but at the same time it's important for me to feel like I've succeeded.

*Who inspires you? I’m inspired by so many people depending on what field they’re in and what they do. Lady Gaga is a huge musical inspiration for me when it comes to what she stands for as an artist. Not only do I enjoy her music and her fashion, but as a gay rights activist she is such an inspiration for me. When it comes to art I’m inspired by the amazing performance artist that is Marina Abramovic. There are so many people that inspire me, mainly in the world of art, music, fashion and dance.
*Where is your ENERGY coming from? When I’m not at school I spend a lot of time in Soho which is where I find a lot of my motivation and energy. I enjoy keeping myself up to date on what is happening in the gay community, it has certainly become this new home that I’ve never had before. London in general gives me so much energy anyway, there is always something going on. Aside from that, going and watching live performances fuels me with so much energy, whether it be going to the Royal Opera House to see a ballet or a drag show in Soho. *What are your plans for the future? After I graduate I hope to tour the world in various different dance companies, possibly involve myself more in choreography and great my own performances for large audiences. I'd like to perhaps get involved with fashion more, or even acting.

veronique I’m a French Photographer. I was born in Paris and have been living in London for the last 7 years. Ever since I can remember I have been interested in photography. I’ve always been very curious about the world around me, and this (almost subconsciously) led to what I do and where I am now. When I was a little girl I enjoyed reading novels, but also looking at the photos of cinema, music, art & travel magazines.

As studies were too expensive for my family, and I wanted to do something related to photography and writing, I decided to study Graphic Design. After completing my studies, I worked for more than 10 years in an advertising agency in France as an art worker and picture librarian. Even though I really enjoyed this work which surrounded me with beautiful photographs, the dream of being a photographer always
remained alive in my head. I always wanted to be the person who takes the photos, rather than the designer who uses the photos for the layout. So one day I arrived at the point where I realized that something was wrong in my life. I wasn't doing what I wanted to do, so I decided to take a big risk, leave France and start a new life in London. As I wanted to discover the city, meet new friends, and connect with this town, I decided to buy a and went for long, long walks across London and the UK, visiting, looking at people, going to concerts

Inspiration
If you could photograph any famous person you could…who would it be? I’m very happy to have made a wonderful start with that J I’ve jus been working with Paul Weller, Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon and the beat poet Michael Horovitz. The photos i took during their recording sessions in Damon’s studio in West London earlier this year have been used for the artwork on the covers of both the LP "Bankbusted Nuclear Detergent Blues", as well as for the single "Ballade Of The Nocturnal Commune/Extra Time Meltdown", which were released on Gearbox Records for Record Store Day 2013. Several of these photos of them have also been published in music magazine NME to illustrate an article about their unique collaboration. For me to work with them and be a part of their creative process is great, I love what they are

Off course I can their own. ...I love what I’m doing... I lovE...
-Who are you and what you do? I’m Leanna, and I’m a model from London -Are you happy? I’m doing what I love and I am surrounded by positive friends and family so I am very happy. I always walk around with a smile; I believe a smile is a girl’s best accessory ;) What are you up to at the moment? I’m currently working on a number of modelling assignments; I’m also studying a degree at university. I love to keep myself busy. What or/and who inspires you? Many people inspire me everyday, I’m inspired by confidence, positivity, success, people who do things for good causes and people who aren’t afraid to be different. Being an individual is very important to me. -Why modelling???? I was scouted by a modelling agency in Oxford circus when I was 15 years old and have been modelling ever since. I absolutely love it; every shoot is completely different from the last. One day I could have a glamorous retro look and the next day I’m dressed as a military solider in a war setting, there’s never a dull day on set. -What is your best achievement in modelling so far? I’ve been fortunate enough to work with a several major brands but I think my biggest achievement was working for ASOS and Little woods.
-What are your ambitions for the future? My ambition is to be a Doctor, (I know very different from modelling right?) I have a passion for both but becoming a Doctor is my optimum goal, besides what’s the fun in being restricted to one thing. The world is your oyster, fulfil it with your dreams and desires because life is too short.
-Are you a perfectionist? I don’t believe in perfection because I don’t think there is such a thing. But the energy of wanting things to be great is perfectionist energy. Where is your ENERGY coming from then??? My love and passion for life! Leanna Beckford

owever pessimism has taken over and its become cool to be sombre, well I say we start a movement to bring back the word energy and not have it linked to power hungry corporations wanting us to spend more to get a service that should be provided as a standard charge. Now forgive me dear reader for I am about to sound condescending and I may come across arrogant which is not intended I assure you, However our great flag flying movement cannot start without you or the people you bludgeon to death with our aims and goals until they give in and also do something nice.
Make sense? No? You help that person and explain the rules, a week later they help another person who is lost and needs directions and they explain the rules, then a week after that they see a person sitting alone on a bench looking sad, perhaps they wouldn’t have normally said hello but they are reminded of there promise and ask them if there ok and thus perhaps help or even save a life. Long shot? perhaps but even at the most basic of level your helping two people who then help another two and so on and so forth sure not everyone will do it but the more you help the more joy you spread.
There is a simple and effective way of spreading joy which I have been trying to reasonable success, for every good dead I do I ask that person to do 2 extra good deeds before the end of the month, then when they help a person ask them to do the same. Start the day with energy and optimism knowing that today you could indirectly change someone’s life by helping some person down the steps with there pram.
This will be our movement we will spread it across the globe and one day you will be in need and someone will want to spread a little more energy and joy and help you, but don’t do it for selfish reasons do it for no other reason then to help someone else who is running a little low on there energy and joy and perhaps just maybe you could be there hero. I am Blawz Why do you love photographing people? I Believe people are amazing. Different color,race,hairdo,beard.. The uniqueness of an individual is amazing. Why children? OMG. They are just incredible. They possess the purest of emotions. Their smile reminds me of how I should rest in God when i have worries. They dont
have anything to worry about so they smile gracefully. Who inspires you the most? God. Seriously, He opens my eyes to take amazing shots. Even when things go wrong at a shoot, He amazingly shows me what to do. someone might call it Instinct, I call it Grace. I feel he stills time for me to capture the most amazing moments even when i'm most sluggish. lol Where is your ENERGY coming from? The thoughts of capturing something new works for me a lot. I get inspired knowing i have to do something new. But the downside to it is that i forget my old photographs as soon as there is something new. haha
What is your best shoot ever? Beauty shoot i had in Birmingham for Biebie makeovers.. She is a really amazing MUA. The model (Josie) made shooting easy as we had an amazing chemistry. I couldn't stop taking pictures of her. Any unpleasant photographic experience? Oh yeah, I had to stand in for a friend who had to cover 2 wedding ceremonies the same day. The father of the frustrated bride almost slapped me for being "Too cool".. lol. He was frustrated my friend wasn't there in person. He shook my hand after the event tho but he never apologized. I dislike proud clients.
What are you up to at the moment? Currently in film school (University of Essex). Studying to be an amazing film maker.
