INTERIOR FABRIC COLLECTION
INTERIOR FABRIC COLLECTION
The Botanical Atlas fabric collection reimagines the natural world for interiors. Combining the renowned Liberty colour palette with rich layered embroideries, opulent textured weaves, and contemporary printed velvets and linens, Botanical Atlas invites us on a journey across the globe. With reference to Sir Arthur Liberty’s expeditions during the 1880s-1910s, this collection explores a captivating array of flora and fauna. From trailing Chinoiserie motifs, to miniature Persian Garden illustrations, the Liberty Botanical Atlas fabric collection seamlessly intertwines the charm of traditional techniques with modern accents.
Created in parallel to the Botanical Atlas wallpaper collection, this series also incorporates innovative, unseen artworks, and beloved archive pieces reworked into new striking scales. Influenced by Liberty’s five colour stories: Lacquer, Jade, Lapis, Pewter, and Lichen, Botanical Atlas is a fascinating collection of visually exquisite botanic narratives.
Meticulously hand-painted in the Liberty Design Studio, in the heart of London, and expertly crafted using traditional and cutting-edge techniques in Italy, Belgium, and India.
The Lichen colour story pays tribute to the vivid organic shades found within the natural world. Fennel and parsnip flowers, artichoke, lilac and thistle, English songbirds coexisting with exotic peacocks in the grounds of stately homes – these are all inspirations of the Arts and Crafts movement and of Liberty’s early textile prints. This eclectic mix of brightly coloured birds and floribunda has inspired our edit of heritage Liberty floral prints. INTERIORS@LIBERTYLONDON.COM

Mineral-rich textile pigments such as Madder, Great Burnet, Red Clover, and Iron-Rich Clay were adopted by Arthur Lasenby Liberty, providing the base for this luxurious palette. Adorned with Cinnabar, Lacquer, Coral, and Garnet jewel-like tones, this colour story is inspired by the antiquated, previously named ‘Oriental Warehouse’ and the buying expeditions of the late 19th century. Extravagant and bohemian, this story suggests a journey in maximalist Art Deco graphic patterns, softened with sumptuous vintage velvets and paisleys.

Saturated colour defines the Jade colour story, with its bold and ultra-decorative tones reminiscent of Japanese and Chinese 19th century artworks and textiles. Carved jade, fine silks, and hand-painted wallpapers provide the inspiration for a concise palette of balanced hues. Jadeite and Acacia greens are warmed by blush tones of Bloomer and Ointment, providing a pared-down and limited but elegant palette. Archive florals are coloured with new yet timeless shades of green.

The crisp blues and whites of the Lapis colour story evoke the beauty of the fashionable Dutch and Persian porcelain of the late 19th century, following the discovery of cobalt. Diverse patterns are unified by these bold and concise hues, which can be mixed and mismatched with confidence. Rare minerals such as lapis lazuli, widely used in jewellery and pewterware, provide inspiration for the signature plain linen – Lapis. These rich blues are complemented by coloured plain linens in Ointment and Down.

Pewter is a modern neutrals colour story which uses a base palette of strong yet muted colour to reflect the delicate designs of Liberty’s origin – such as the Great Shawl and Cloak Emporium, with its fine lace and shawls, slippers, silk, and night jackets. Inspired by Liberty craftmanship and the brand’s contribution to the Aesthetic Movement and the Georgian Era Revival, these touchstones are transformed into an ultra-contemporary, stripped-back palette for modern interiors. This versatile collection is designed to sit alongside and underpin four other richly pigmented colour stories, each reflecting a different facet of Liberty’s long and ever-evolving history.

MAGICAL PLANTS Hand-painted in the Liberty Design Studio, Magical Plants takes us on a fantastical journey of botanical discovery. Inspired by the historic tradition of studied illustration, exquisite natural forms come together to create a majestic trailing garden. Magnolias, fuchsia, wisteria, lily of the valley, white dogwood, and nutmeg adorn the graceful leafy branches which skilfully combine scientific accuracy with artistic sensibility. Printed in Italy on a beautiful 100% linen, with a heavy drape and soft tumbled finish. Suitable for upholstery, drapery, cushions, and accessories. Also available as a wide width wallpaper design in three elegant colourways. (Wycombe)
TUDOR POPPY This luxurious and poised botanical was inspired by a small fragment of fabric discovered in the Liberty archive dating from 1895. Bold stylised poppies appear to flow in undulating synergy, within a setting of winding foliage and tiny flowering buds. Paying homage to Liberty’s long-standing association with the Arts & Crafts movement, Tudor Poppy was lovingly restored and carefully reconstructed with delicate shading and soft inky washes. Printed in Italy on 100% linen this fabric is suitable for upholstery, drapery, cushions, and accessories. (Wycombe)
BUTTERFIELD Designed in the 1900s by one of Liberty’s most influential Arts and Crafts designers, Lindsay Butterfield, this original artwork is seen for the first time in interiors. With the addition of a dramatic shadow to this playful poppy print, Butterfield is a quintessentially Liberty design. Printed on 100% linen and a rich sumptuous velvet, suitable for upholstery, drapery, cushions, and accessories. (Guro, Downley)
SILK TREE LINEN Silk Tree is Liberty Fabrics’ refreshingly modern interpretation of a Chinoiserie design. For this print, experts in traditional Chinese silk painting techniques were commissioned to create an artwork using metallic silk paper. Reworked into a scenic panel by the Liberty Design Studio, Silk Tree features a joyful canopy of trees and bamboo branches, decorated with birds, butterflies, Persian silk tree flowers, Chinese physalis, amaryllis, and peonies. Printed in Italy on a light 100% linen, Silk Tree makes a striking, statement curtain panel for interiors. (Marlow Linen) This design is a panel design with each panel measuring 335cm (131.9”) tall by 133cm (52.4”) wide. The individual panels are indicated by a crop mark and can be trimmed in height if required by removing any excess from the sky of each length.
PORCELAIN TRAIL Porcelain Trail is inspired by a hand-painted furnishing design, originally printed for Liberty during the late 1960s. Its winding branches are dotted with blossom flowers and spectacular chrysanthemums, combining directional design, artistry, and innovation. Adapted by the Liberty Design Studio, intriguing islands with lush gardens of oversized lotus flowers, fantastic pavilions, floating sampans, and birds in flight unfold across this spectacular scenic. Please note: Please note our fabrics are made from high quality materials. The natural qualities of linen mean that there may be slubs and slight variations in weave. These slight variations may affect the penetration of dye in some places. This is not a defect of the fabric – rather it shows quality and integrity of the natural yarn and printing process. This can be seen on larger pieces and on showroom drapes. Please ask for assistance if you require clarification prior to purchase. In addition, there may be some shade variation from batch to batch. Please order a current stock cutting if you require an exact colour match. Technical specifications are shown on the reverse of each sample.
Copyright: The copyright and any other intellectual property rights in the designs on this fabric belong to Liberty Fabric Ltd. The designs may not be copied, adapted or translated into any other media without the prior written permission of Liberty. Liberty takes the protection of its intellectual property very seriously and will take immediate legal steps to defend its rights in the event of any unauthorised use of its designs.
Testing: In order to comply with various international and national upholstery, flame retardant standards, these high-quality upholstery fabrics may require additional FR treatments. Please refer to information found on sample labels and contact Liberty Fabrics for further information. All fabrics have been tested in accordance with the standards shown on the reverse of each fabric. Technical data sheets and sight of testing certificates can be supplied upon request. Where FR treatment is indicated an additional cost may apply.
Care and Cleaning: We recommend that all velvets and upholstery fabrics are regularly brushed or vacuumed with an upholstery fitting, both to prolong the life of the fabric and to maintain its appearance. Light spot cleaning can be carefully carried out, but we recommend spot testing in a less visible area. Professional dry cleaning as necessary.
